being induced in 2 weeks..?
hey everyone i'm currently 36 weeks + 6 days and getting induced in exactly 2 weeks when i'm 38 + 6 days due to gestational diabeties and as i had a stillborn son last year (i lost him at 28 weeks). I was wondering if you could tell me a bit about getting induced.. they said they would be doing it by inserting a gel every 3 hours till my cervix opens then they would break my waters and that would hopefully start my labour off.. how long did it take for you.. what was it like.. how long did you have to stay in hospital after.. thank you for all your answers xxx

hi hon, sorry for the loss of your son. I had my third child 8 months ago and was induced at 39 weeks. I went into hospital on the friday night and the midwife inserted a pessary into my vagina to soften my cervix. by 8am the following morning I had started to contract, as the day progressed I had to have my waters artificially ruptured and as my own contractions started losing power I was told that I needed to be put on oxytocin to progress my labour - from previous experience I knew this drug gives very strong contractions so I requested an epidural first. A partial epidural was given so that I could still feel the contractions but they were a lot less painful - I got to 10cm dilated, my daughter crowned and after 3 pushes she was out! she was born at 7.15 pm on the saturdayIt was a wonderful birth and I felt toally in control. I stayed in hospital for 2 nights. if you feel you need an epidural ask for one as the oxytocin is very painful!

I suggest that you start walking a LOT in the next two weeks before having the baby. It will help you with labor and could also soften your cervix and you could dilate, instead of having them put the gel on your cervix. If you are already dilated, it will speed things along. Getting induced really isn't that bad, well, it wasn't for me. I was in labor for 4 hours and 30 mins and my baby girl came. It didn't seem much different than going into labor alone. Just go in with confidence. Don't worry about how much it will hurt because then you will start to feel pain. Go in thinking "this isn't going to be so bad" and you will do fine. I had to stay in the hospital for only 24 hours. Which is the same amount of time as someone who went in labor on their own. Good luck!!

I was induced at 40 weeks 3 days.. I was dilated to a 2 and 75% effaced when I went in. I was put on the pitocin drip and the doctor came in and broke my water.. After 12 hours, I was dilated to an 8. But his heartrate started dropping and I had to go for an emergency c section (he was on his cord or something)...Breaking your water definitely starts contractions going combined with the pitocin..

Well my wife had to be induced on two of our eldest. The first one she was given the gels. Nothing was shifting and so they put her on drip. That labour lasted 5 and a half hours. On our second, they broke her waters for her, and this actually started labour off.He was born in 4 hours.
She stayed in for 3 days on our first child, and was home within 12 hours after our second. Good luck with your labour!!!

throughout the time of the beginning of my daughter I had to be brought on two times, my toddler & I have been positive. 24 hours basically before being brought on i became placed on a "sparkling nutrition recurring" - I in undemanding terms took in water, poultry broth and jell-o. i became positive. i became hungry yet i became positive. i did not poop on my woman newborn. yet once you do - who cares? The nurses are professionals - they have considered all of it. After the delivery they wipe you down so quickly you wont even observe. All you will observe is the little heat physique on your chest & ask your self the place she became all your existence!
