i don't get the last exorcism?

The people who they show during the ceremony at the end all worshiped the devil. They were the cult mentioned earlier in the movie by one of the "crazy" locals. The main girl, Nell was involved in the cult, but not voluntarily. You can easily tell she was being held there against her will. And it's up to our interpretation whether or not the priest dies. Although I am pretty sure they showed him dead in that picture Nell had drawn of them all. The brother Caleb was involved in the cult too, yes. That's why Caleb was so against Cotton being there, and why he threatened him about hurting Nell. Because if Nell died, then the ritual or ceremony could not be completed. And if the exorcism succeeded, it would have interfered with it as well. Basically, most of the town seemed in on it, except for Nell and her father. The baby must have been some sort of sacrifice, since babies are not tainted.

In hind sight, the story is clear. The Church is really the front for the cult that was talked about. Caleb was recruited through the youth group, and was probably the father of Nell's baby. Caleb wanted Cotton and co. gone, because it was important that nothing remove Nell from the home and area. Perhaps the Pastor died; I hope so. But the up shot is Nell was possessed, by the hellspawn within her, and its sacrifice was the doorway through which its father could enter our world. Cotton found his faith again (seeing the devil will increase your faith in G*d) and moved to banish the demon before it could move into our world. The real question is did he succeed? 1. The whole church turns out to be a Satan worshiping cult. The dad had always had a suspicion about tw church especially the pastor, becuasw earlier you find out that they got into an argument.

2. Since the pastor was the head of this cult, he impregnated Nell and you can tell she gives birth to a nonhuman baby it leads to believe that the baby is either Satan or a demon because it grows in the fire after it was thrown in.

3. I think that Nell had some issues in the first place through her mother's death and going crazy since her father sheltered her too much.

4 remember her drawing of how Cotten and his crew died, It shows that he dies by being burned alive.

of course we don't know this for sure because the camera doesn't show. Now the question is did God save him for his sudden return to his faith?
