What is good/bad about Michael Moore's movie, "Sicko"?
I just got done watching Sicko for about the 4th time.
Each time I get angrier and angrier.
Partly for the sorry situation of Universal Health Care in the U.S. and partly for the critics of Pres. Obama's proposed Health Care Plan.
So, my question to you critics of both this movie AND Pres. Obama's plan: What is it about the movie you do not like?
Are his facts in error? If so, which ones?
If his facts are correct, why do you disagree?
If his facts are in error, please give me your reference sources.
Thank you all for your answers.

What's GOOD about it is that exposes the truth about crappy healthcare in the United States.
What's BAD about it is that unfortunately, FACTS are irrelevant to certain groups of people in America.

As a resident of Ontario, and Windsor more specifically (where some of "Sicko" was filmed) I can tell you that our health care system is not as rosy as the film portrays. While it is true that health care here, in general, is free (doctor's appointments, a majority of tests/procedures), it is a far cry from the simplistic approach that the film takes; the fact is that emergency room/clinic waits are often ridiculously long (a 4 or 5 hour wait in a hospital emergency room on a weekend is not an exaggeration) and appointments with specialists, after a referral by your family physician, often involve a 12 to 18 month wait. It is a reality that here in Windsor patients sometimes opt to consult with an American physician/hospital rather than endure the lengthy wait time here to see a specialist. Only in extreme, life-threatening circumstance are you given priority treatment.
This being said, given the fact that I have luckily not had to resort to extreme measures to seek treatment, I have not personally had to resort to other options but I know that is not the case across the board.

I think Cubans pay a little more per year than he mentioned. The part of the movie that is censored where he sets foot on Cuba with his passengers was intriguing because Americans are not allowed to go there without journalist credentials. It is obscene that those 9/11 volunteer workers were sick and could not get treatment in New York because of money. I was glad to see the Cuban doctors helping because Cuban doctors are very good. During Hurricane Katrina, Cuba offered to send doctors to the Gulf but Bush refused. I agree with his mission statement in making the movie even though he probably took dramatic license with some scenes. It was very important to see but it was made 3 years ago and not much has changed.

you're an exceptionally strange individual, yet you grant up some solid factors. certainty is, MM performs speedy and loose with data. interior the making of his action picture, Moore took his cameras to Cuba yet, unfortunately, did not point out that, in accordance to the international well being organisation, the well being device interior the u . s . is extra efficient than in Fidel's socialist paradise. i'm confident Moore's oversight became unintentional. an identical trend repeats itself in his different video clips. as a results of fact the yank public generally accepts what it sees without thinking it, perceptions easily grow to be the recent certainty...and don't enable the data get interior the way of a solid tale!

Moore's so called movies are radical leftist propaganda.
Government run health care in America is not possible due to the rich health care corporations, rich health care insurance companies, and the rich health care professionals. Simply paying for our extremely expensive but very effective health care system with tax dollars will bankrupt the country. Obama wants the tax payers to take over paying all the profits to all the greedy corporations. What a stupid idea that is.
But then he is out to destroy the USA, so I understand why he wishes to do this.

I agree with you completely about the state of health care in this country. Critics to the movie cite things like how America doesn't have lengthy wait times for routine or specialized surgeries that they have in countries with socialized medicine, they also cite the quality of the care received by American patients but this is false. Just because something is more expensive does not make it better, and arguably doctors today have such a terrible bedside manner and are prone to prescribe anything the pharmaceuticals tell them to. The critics also don't take into account the enormous cost of care in this country that is passed onto the patients and they will frequently site the high cost of programs like Medicaid and Medicare without mentioning just how much the insurance companies are making every year and how many claims they deny. Its truly disgusting how patients in this country are treated and the conservatives make it look like Jesus himself somehow blessed America's healthcare system, its such b.s.

For those who think Sicko is just propaganda. I live in England and his depiction of the NHS was 100% accurate. It's an institution we are very proud of.
And now the new Tory Government wants to privatise it.

The bad part is that Michael Moore is still given outlets for his "movies". The good part is almost nobody watches them or takes him seriously.

Good - short
Bad - most all within it has been proven to be fabricated or badly spun. He's not known as the modern Goebbels for nothing.
