How many cats can one own before they become "the crazy cat lady"?

Update:

(I knew at least one person would say just one, but they are the kind of people that probably keep cockroaches in a jar as pets)

Update 2:

The person in question is early/mid-20s, living with someone in an apartment.

Update 3:

My personal limit especially for an apartment is two. But that may be because I had two cats sharing an apartment for over twelve years that never got along with each other. Fur & spit was always flying.

It depends if you are living alone. If you are, I would say 4.

Funny but I was just wondering about that ! I have 2 indoor cats 14 years old & 4 years old. I recently adopted a stray that another cat brought to my back door who was dying of starvation & an upper respiratory infection. I have nursed Mr. Stray back to health and he lives outside and now the cat who brought him to me has adopted me and she stays outside also. So I decided it is ok as there are great places outside for them to live. Oh, I have an 11 year old chocolate lab-Hershey who loves all the cats and they love him ! This is enough cats or I will be the crazy cat lady !

I think the overall answer depends on your entire environment. If you live alone....3. If you have a family, the more the merrier! I wish I could have a huge plot of land to have lots of cats and dogs always around. Enjoy your kitties!

age is an obvious factor here rather then the number of cats........if you are 18 and you have a couple of cats you are a pet lover......if you 38, unmarried and you have a couple of cats, you need a man.......if you 48 and have a couple of cats, you missed out in life.........if you are 68 and have a couple of cats your children have left home......if you are 78 and have a couple of cats you are a crazy cat lady.

I agree with the first answer, if you're living alone with say . . 4+ cats (in my opinion) then you're "the crazy cat lady". (:

EDIT- Peachy Perfect probably has 4. I think I offended her.. tehehehehe.

... i visualise the owner you're describing here... yet i think of it is not plenty concerning to the quantity of cats they save, by way of fact the ingredient at which they make the call to end washing themselves?

You become the crazy old cat lady when you refer to the animals as your children.

    The number depends on:

    1) how obsessed you are with them,

    2) how old you are, and

    3) how crazy you are.

If you are obsessed, old, and crazy all at once, I'd say the most you can get away with is four.

Source(s): EDIT: Wow, that's hilarious how everyone is saying 4. EDIT @ Don't hold back: I actually don't have any pets at all, and have never owned a cat - only dogs, rats, and guinea pigs. I don't see why I should have been offended...
