I want to make a breakfast soup, anyone got any other ideas?
I want to make like an oriental egg drop style soup, but with bits of bacon, ham, or sausage, potatoes, and maybe topped with croutons for toast. The idea is another quick and easy breakfast other than oatmeal or cereal. Made in advance, just heat and eat from frozen you know.

Some Vichyssoise maybe? very tasty especially eaten cold during summer heat, and safely freezable to be eaten later, here's the recipe:
Julia Child's Vichyssoise
ingredients:
4 cups sliced leeks, white part only
4 cups diced potatoes, old or baking potatoes recommended
6 to 7 cups water
1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons salt or to taste
1/2 cup or more sour cream, heavy cream, or crème fraîche, optional
1 Tablespoon fresh chives or parsley, minced
how to make:
Bring the leeks, potatoes and water to the boil in a heavy-bottomed 3-quart saucepan with cover . Salt lightly, cover partially, and simmer 20-30 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender. Purée the soup if you wish. Taste, and correct seasoning. After chilling the soup, you may wish to stir in a little more cream. Taste carefully again, and correct the seasoning. Top each serving with a sprinkle of chives or parsley.
for 6-8 servings

Soup contains the very essence of all that is nourishing and sustaining in the foods of which it is made. The importance of soup is to consider the purposes it serves in a meal. When its variety and the ingredients of which it is composed are thought of, soup serves two purposes: first, as an appetizer taken at the beginning of a meal to stimulate the appetite and aid in the flow of digestive juices in the stomach; and secondly, as an actual part of the meal, when it must contain sufficient nutritive material to permit it to be considered as a part of the meal instead of merely an addition.
