please help - My wife had surgery a week ago and is not doing well.?
My wife of 25 years had open heart surgery last thursday. since she came out of the OR she has been in some sort of disconnected mental state. she cannot control her body. she seems as if she is trapped inside. i am terrified that she is going to stay that way. the doctors don't know what is wrong with her.
My question is what is this condition called where you are maybe aware but not in control of your movements?

do they have her on valium or some thing of the sorts , that would give the indication that she is not in control of her bodily functions
i personally had a heart attack about 2 years ago , and they kept me in icu for 5 days all the time they had me on valium (or something of the sorts) to keep me calm and allow the body to help heal itself
