My husband and I have been married for four years and have never used a condom (we were both virgins)...?

I have been on birth control the whole time and I don't know if I can afford it anymore. (this economy is terrible) As it is we only have intercourse once or twice each month and I think it would be cheaper to go with condoms. How can I convince my hubby this is a good idea? And also I am allergic to latex so I am a little bit afraid...any advice? Thanks in advance.

Update:

Awesome...I hear ya. It's not my choice.

Update 2:

Trust me...if I could have it my way it would be a lot more than once or twice each month. I am honest about this question, though.

Update 3:

I understand about having a child. My job is nannying for two little boys. I am very aware of the cost and I agree with you that bc is a much better way to go.

Your husband can have a vasectomy or you can get your tubes tied. Or both!

Condoms are not going to cut it. I have a very mild allergy to latex and I burn after using a condom. If you have a full allergy... believe me.. you just might swell, burn... and get an infection.

I wouldn't suggest an IUD to my worst enemy. Some DO have hormones (Mirena who by the way is being sued right now~) and the side effects are not worth it. It can break through your uterus ANYTIME in the 5 years you leave it in (meaning major surgery!!), the most commonly reported side effect that doctors, the FDA and Bayer do not tell you about is depression and extreme mood swings. Not to mention the increased likelihood of a ectopic pregnancy, meaning possible surgery (even more costly). There's more, but that is beyond the point.. forget the IUD, even the copper one you could be allergic to.. the increased risk of infections isn't worth it (or cost effective in the long run.)

So.. no condoms, no IUD.. there are other methods.. Diaphrams -(though there is a risk of UTI) and Cervical caps -made from silicone. They can cost $60-$90 depending on the brand you go with but they are reusable and last a year with regular use.. (I'm thinking yours would last longer.. twice a month?)

You could just stay on the pill. I would cut into groceries or cut another bill before I gave up my birth control! When I was on the pill it was $100 every 3 months. I am sure you can set aside $33 every month for the pill! Start clipping coupons and printing them from the internet for groceries. I save our grocery bill $30 every 2 weeks doing this! Then there is your cash for the pill!

Seriously.. kids are expensive.. birth control is not something you skimp on. Go to your local Family Planning or health department ~ they charge based on your income. If you can't afford $30 a month then I am sure you qualify for some help. Seriously~ think about this because this is not a light decision.

There are condoms made from other than latex, but with regard to cost, birth control versus possible pregnancy...what do you imagine the bills for pregnancy, childbirth, and raising a kid to adulthood might be??? I'd find the money to stay on the birth control, if I had to pick up aluminum cans on the side of the road to sell for scrap...

Last time I bought the pill it was about $20/mo, the injection around $60 (for 3 months)...surely you can cut out some unnecessary items in your world to save twenty bucks a month for b/c??? If not, condoms are better than nothing, but I've never been comfortable relying on them as my sole b/c method (and I'm 45)...

Perhaps your local Health Dept/free clinic can help you get (or keep on taking) b/c...even from the gov't/taxpayers point of view it's cheaper to help you prevent pregnancy than to help you pay for one...

it is not straightforward for every physique else, like me, to have a competent theory of what's happening, for the reason that no one is familiar with your husband besides as you do. If he has been going out with out ideal clarification there is an danger some thing is going on, even nevertheless it is likewise accessible that it is thoroughly harmless. Your superb attitude could be to flippantly ask your husband approximately those issues in a immediately-forward way once you have his complete interest. this way he could no longer in basic terms wave his hand (so which you will possibly talk) and brush off it. place self assurance in the have faith that marriage involves, and are not getting earlier than your self. If it seems some thing has been happening, take it from there. yet bear in mind it maximum probable isn't your fault, people are complicated or maybe those all of us understand the excellent can bypass off the rails for no comprehensible reason. it must be as much as you to assist get them back heading in the right direction and it would possibly no longer, however the 1st step is to get them to open up. you could determine you want to secretly stick to your husband to get extra information, and then confront him. this would injury your marriage even nevertheless - it makes it clean that there is a loss of have faith, and while you're incorrect it would be exceptionally unfavourable. in basic terms be rational and clarify why you hassle in a peaceful way, on the comparable time making it clean which you're *very* in touch. do no longer be afraid to talk to a distinctive pal approximately your concerns as they'll understand a lot extra advantageous than each and every person on line. i'm hoping issues would nicely be worked out.

A child is vastly more expensive than birth-control.

It's like $30/mn.... collect cans and pay for it if you have to.

You should cut electricity and buy ice before you cut birth-control and buy condoms.

If you're allergic to latex your couter is going to >burn< after having sex with a condom and after the real thing he's not going to have to have sex with a condom (it'll be a waste of time).

If you both only have sex with each other you can use a lambskin condom for birth control. This does NOT prevent STD's however.

How long have you been married...once or twice a month hardly seems like enough.

Once or twice a month? Damn, I would die.

Get condoms made out of a different material like sheepskin instead of latex.

You can also try an IUD (intrauterine device) . The doctor places one inside your uterus and you will never have to do anything else until you're ready to have kids they remove it. No hormones or drugs are released it's just a tiny little t-shaped piece that prevents pregnancy. Cost effective and nomaintenance.

You might see if there are diaphragms made out of a different material than latex.

If you are allergic to latex then you can't use condoms. If you think birth control is expensive you should see how expensive having a baby and then caring for him/her is!!
