I have some compound bow questions... just a heads up, I might need some detailed info.?

Before I ask, I am just going to give a little background info so you may be able to help me more. I have been shooting a bow for about three years pretty consistently, every week a couple of times. I do hunt, but never thought of bow hunting until now. This is my setup:

A high country bow, model sniper. From the little I have read on it, its an older bow and shoots slower than most compounds now. It has 65lb draw, when I had it set three years ago. Never had a new string. 28" draw length. My arrows are extreme hunter arrows made by gold tip. They were cut to my draw length so I guess they are about 30". I do not know how much they weight. I have a feeling I need to get new arrows because I have been reading up on some things before I started hunting. Here are my questions:

I have 100 grain broadheads and field tips. My broad heads shoot way off. I figured this would be normal, but I do not know how to fix it. How can I fix this? I have read a ton of stuff and I do not know where to start. I have read that I need to balance my arrows, find arrows to fit my bow and also tune my bow to match my arrows. I am totally confused about this. Can someone offer me some help? And can I do this on my own? Like I said, I do not know what is step one. I have been shooting good groupings at 20 yards, 30 yards, 35 yards, and ok groups at 40 yards. I really enjoy archery and I want to take it to the next level. Thanks in advance. If you need more info let me know!

Update:

To Justin: Thanks for the reply. Trust me, I am looking for an expert to help me. Someone told me there is a bow pro shop a couple hours from me. I will end up going there, but I just want a head start before I go. Its a long drive.

I'm no broadhead expert, but here's a question, do the broadheads group together?

Download the Easton tuning guide and follow it exactly step by step. There are a lot of different tuning methods out there. It's tempting to just mix and match, but they don't work well when you skip steps or mix in steps from one with the other. The Easton tuning guide used to have a section on tuning broadheads, that's why I recommend it.

Know that each one bows are a bit one of a kind. Some will say they're quieter, a few say they're quicker. Remember that to get arrow velocity, you expand noise, to be quieter, you lose arrow velocity. Personally, I might alternatively have the quietness and all new (more recent) bows can have greater than adequate velocity to do the activity. JD gave well recommendation approximately going to a professional retailer and getting geared up with a bow that you just consider secure with. they are going to userally even mean you can shoot them there. be ready to inform them in which and what you'll be searching as bow's variety a well bit in dimension. I might say to spend approximately 550 or so an a bow or bow kit. you'll spend the leisure on components, i promise. If you desire a few manufacturer names to seem at, I endorse Parker and Matthews. For arrows, I might say Gold Tip or Carbon Express. Some of my different favorites are Muzzy Broadheads, all of Limbsavers merchandise (S Coil Stablizer and String Leeches are quality), Whisker Buisket aarow leisure, Copper Johns attractions and Cobra free up. It's well-nigh as much as you. Don't purchase whatever that you're no longer completely happy with or that you will not be completely happy with within the future years. I learn some thing approximately a Kia and Cadilac comparrison, I do not possess both one, however understand tons of folks that alternate in practically new caddy's. Try all of them out and you'll be able to be completely happy with what you get. Get what is proper for you.

try this align the broadheads all the same to the outside vane ,via heating the insert btw a good group at 20-30 is great for deer,,most are taken in the 15 -25 yd range,,it sounds like you could use a new string ,,,but this is a simple adjustment at home ,,sounds to me like your just dropping of at the longer range,,it is hard to find a 40 yd hole in the woods,,

My suggestion is to go to a pro shop. not just a bow shop but a pro shop, there is a difference. They will get you started on the right track. That is how you get to the next level, you talk to the people who are there.
