what do you think of these Quotes about God?

A new idea is the result of the dethroning of a reigning God.

Christopher Hyatt

In spite of centuries wasted in preaching God's omnipotence, his omnipotence is contradicted by every Christian judgment and every Christian prayer.

George Santayana

Man is certainly stark mad; he cannot make a flea, and yet he will be making gods by the dozens.

Montaigne

If man had created man, he would be ashamed of his performance.

Mark Twain

Darwin was wrong. Man's still an ape. His creed's still a totem pole. When he first achieved the upright position, he took a look at the stars, and thought they were something to eat. When he couldn't reach them, he decided they were groceries belonging to a bigger creature. That's how Jehovah was born.

Gene Kelly, "Inherit the Wind"

A one-planet deity has for me little appeal.

Harlow Shipley

The density of matter in the Universe is only 20 drops of water in a billion cubic miles. That's all the creation the good Lord's come up with, and it's no big thing.

John Dobson, Astronomer

As far as I can determine, God is an abstract noun that refers to the general set of singularities resulting from any process of extrapolation based on incomplete information.

Mark Thompson

Men have believed in a God who was an omnipotent fiend, a demon quite unknown to the devil-worship of the past - a curse that sat enthroned amid the universe, breathing horror all abroad, and brooding down in blackness on the souls of men. And the ascending smoke of torment was to magnify the features of his monstrous majesty.

Gerald Massey

The God of the Bible can only be adored by individuals whose minds are not emancipated wholly from the thralldom of barbarism, and who regard Jehovah as a man, and not a good one either, or, as we have before remarked a devil.

Dr. Thomas Inman, British Royal Physician, Ancient Faiths and Modern, 255

The Jehovah of the Jews is a suspicious tyrant, who breathes nothing but blood, murder, and carnage, and who demands that they should nourish him with the vapours of animals. The Jupiter of the Pagans is a lascivious monster. The Moloch of the Phoenicians is a cannibal. The pure mind of the Christians resolved, in order to appease his fury, to crucify his own son. The savage god of the Mexicans cannot be satisfied without thousands of mortals which are immolated to his sanguinary appetite.

Paul Henri Thiry, Baron D'Holbach

You seems to believe in philosophy rather than scriptures. Words could be used in many ways to interpret an imaginable minds of poor charismatic quality. No educated intelligent person have the right to make any comment on the entity of God. This is something that no human have ever realize with full knowledge of its true substance and essence.

When we cannot reach that realm of understanding on the subject of God, their opinion remain a personal discrepancy.

Even the best scientists in this universe that study science will end up finding at the end with nothingness. God will lead them there to prove a point. Because from that nothingness came everything.

God is not a proud entity that claim His glory. Only human will quickly come out to claim their victory.

All these quotes refer to deities that arose following

the Kurgan invasion, when barbarians from the Ukraine

conquered all of Europe and the Middle East. They

brought with them the belief in a violent and jealous

male war-god, from which all of the deities spoken

    of in these quotes evolved.

It's only been within the last century, and mostly in

the last 30 years, that we've come to understand that

there was a much more peaceful culture that existed

prior to the invasion, whose deity was a benevolent

Mother Goddess, and who never caused any of the

sort of problems that the Kurgan deities did.

ALL quotes are merely the opinions of strangers that I couldn't care less about. You see, I make up my own mind.
