My cats very ill (advice needed)?
My cat aged 11 has recently collapsed out of the blue, she looked fine the day before, i took her to the vet straight away and apparently she had kideny failure and jaundis, i worry about here because i had a cat aged 21 about 10 years ago now have almost the same problem and the end result wasnt good. What are here chances of recovering from this by any medicines. She is still quite young for a cat, can anyone give me any reassurance

I'm sorry, but only your vet can give you a definite answer.

Kidney failure is not a death sentence if it is diagnosed early enough. My 17 year old cat passed away from kidney failure but it was a gradual decline and he had lost a lot of weight at the end. If I had a do over I would have taken him to the vet a lot sooner and not attributed his health issues to old age. Your cat is still fairly young and you said she looks okay. The most important thing I've learned after the fact is that you have to get your cat to eat. If she doesn't like the vet's prescribed diet than feed her whatever she'll eat. You have to get food in her to keep her going.

If you are feeding the same food as you did for the other cat, try switching foods. (We simply feed 9 Lives or Whiskers or Meow Mix. No store brand and we don't use the premium brands.
Also, do not overfeed. Overfed cats get sick. The amount on the bag is just too much. We feed about 1/4 cup or less per feeding, two times per day. DO NOT leave out for self-feeding. Too much food. You could also try mixing dry food, small amount of canned and a lot of water to make a soupy mixture, but not too much.
Supplement your cat's diet with plants such as kitty grass or Dracanea plant which helps their digestion. What has the vet said about the kidneys, or what to do for this?
Go online and look up: natural help for feline kidney problems, or something similar. You might also look up natural help for liver in cats. Jaundice is a problem with the liver. If she is overweight, try bringing her down, slowly. A fast cut might not be good for her. Try using foods with less grains in them.

If it is kidney failure and jaundice, the liver is likely not working correctly either. At her age, I would be looking for a cause of the multiple organ failure. Cats can do amazing things, recovery wise. I would do whatever treatment the vet is recommending and see what happens.

Kidney failure is very common for cats. Just as people die at different ages so do cats.
If the vet did not recommend putting her to sleep then there is a chance.
Just enjoy the time you have with her. Cats are amazing creatures.
Good Luck and God Bless!
