Why do girls confide that they have been molested or raped?

Is it a ploy for sympathy, an excuse for erratic personalities, or what? Also, how often do you wonder if they're telling the truth?

They are giving you a hint that they want it again.

Unfortunately, there are some girls out there that are in fact attention seekers. That makes it twice as hard for the ones out there who it really happened to, to be believed. I have been on both sides of the equation. It's happened to me before and I have had people confide in me. I personally disagree with the idea that girls who tell want it to happen again. No girl or guy for that matter wants to be raped.

Some girls do it to get attention, my sister in law did this. however, if you are good friends with the girl in question, maybe she trusts you enough to tell you her inner most secrets. As a woman, sometimes I just want a sounding board. I don't want my friend to solve it,I just want someone to listen.

You really have to know the girl, to determine if she is trying to get attention or not. If you just met, then she is probably looking for attention, however, if she is your nearest and dearest friend, she might just want someone to listen to her. This is very important for girls and women.

If you have any doubt, you should take it seriously. You can always find out from her other friends whether or not she is telling the truth.

An outlet for suffering. Everyone needs someone to help them through their problems. Now some girls are just full of it. I wonder how many are being honest all the time. Most are generally pretty obvious though. It can be all of those things, but in a lot of cases, they just want someone to listen and tell them what to do or give them reassurance.

Well, Im very torn on this. Some girls use it as a very shabby attention grab, and this is generally what I branded them as when I heard this; Attention seeker. Until it happened to a close friend of mine. Then I looked at both sides. There are alot of men in this world who don't know how to treat a woman.

Girls don't often tell because they find it embarrassing... some may lie about it just for the attention.. and there are others that will tell if it really happened to them so that person will be arrested...

Either attention, or they trust you enough to confide that part about themselves to you.
