Why is Michael Vick still playing in the NFL?

Were the Eagles so hard up for players that they couldn't give someone else a chance? I mean, if someone is a convicted felon should they really get a second chance at such a dream job?!

Update:

He served his time (a short amount of it) to make up for his crime. That doesn't make him a role model. There are some extremely talented players who aren't getting a chance because the NFL chose to let someone in who clearly lost his shot at being there.

Of course he can have a second shot at life, but he should not get a second chance and THAT kind of life. He blew it. He should be out.

Update 2:

Wait....so just because I think they shouldn't keep felons on the team just because they play well, that makes me not know anything about football?! LOL

Update 3:

stik boi: I am not a PETA person, or perfect or jealous or ignorant or racist or mentally screwed up or 'not a person of God' and I don't hate him. Whether or not you think his crime was a bad one or not, according to the law it is. You can't pick and choose which laws you want to obey.

Vick shouldn't be in a high profile lucrative job. I guarantee you there are other people who could win the game for them.

My point is...shouldn't people care enough about who we put in positions of prestige? You are so willing to let him take a spot that should belong to someone else now ... just because you think he's good? There are others that are good and haven't decided to throw their opportunity away.

I agree with everything you said, but apparently America doesn't. It is quite a shame that the NFL has so many of these players. In the end, whatever brings the NFL in with the money and the ratings, they are going to keep. Michael Vick is that guy and unfortunately people love him. I personally can't stand him for so many reasons and they aren't just because of his dog fighting crimes. Hopefully, people will remember the quarterbacks of today like Brady and Manning who actually were amazing quarterbacks and good role models unlike the Vicks and the Roethlisberger's of the NFL that just like to cause controversy.

If I were a team proprietor of a team who quite needed a QB, then definite, i'd. a million) Vick is a shown winner. he's not any longer a large passer, yet he makes performs at the same time with his legs that no one else can. he's a large playmaker and could help a team win. 2) As an proprietor, i'd be maximum worried with the perfect prognosis. Vick will make money. at the same time as you'll have your percentage of people which will oppose Vick because of what he did, who cares? maximum of those human beings, PETA protected, are not the followers that flow to the video games and purchase jerseys, shirts, and memorabilia. So, the folk who could be annoyed at me for signing Vick does no longer were making me money besides, so I lose no longer something. If something, they could even come out to the game to boo him, which interior the end, makes me money besides. 3) i'd be promoting a lot extra tickets merely from those who want to work out Vick. there'll be the folk who want to work out if VIck can nonetheless play, and he will be a PR spectacle, all of which will make money. 4) If he does win, it truly is going to easily carry extra followers out to the stands, and make extra human beings want to stay with the team. prevailing communities make extra money, and thats the perfect prognosis the following.

I'm not a Vick fan, but I believe everybody should get a second chance. He lost a ton of money in fees, fines, and lost wages, then he went to jail. I can forgive the guy. He did his time. That doesn't mean I like him or look up to him. He is a very, very good player. He seems to have learned something from all this. I appreciate his skill and athletic ability. I'm glad he seems to have turned his life around. Why shouldn't he be allowed to play, if he can make the team?

I agree with you. If it were anyone else they would still be behind bars or if released they would certainly not be put right back into the lucrative job they just had. Now the clown wants a dog. It's like giving a 5th to an alcoholic or a 12 year old to a pedophile. But there are so many that are prepared to say, "Oh it's ok...he did his time." Sorry....I'm a forgiving person but he should not be allowed to be in such a high profile position where he is expected to be a role model to our young. He should not be playing, ever.

Question 1: Why is Michael Vick still playing in the NFL? Look up his stats

Question 2: If someone is a convicted felon should they really get a second chance at such a dream job? Absolutely. He served his time in prison, he still doing things to help animal safety organizations in such, and everyone deserves a second chance at life. Why not, give the guy a shot, let him redeem himself.

First of all being the QB of an NFL team is not like a desk job, not just any old semi-qualified candidate can get the job done, and its not a job market of "fairness," an NFL team isnt going to take a risk in playing possibly inferior players in the name of fairness and ethics. NFL teams need to make money to survive, not to mention it is their purpose to make money, winning helps make money, Vick wins, he has been rehabilitated, just as our justice system is meant to do, you cant persecute everyone for life for every crime

michael vick is a great person. i didnt care too much for him back then when he was a butthole gangsta wanna be, but he really does seem like a changed man. i respect the fact that he manned up and took responsibility for what he did and that takes a lot fo guts, especially when there is no proof that he actually participated in any of the killings or fightings, besides him saying he did (i dont believe him), but he seems like a changed man and is showing it well. people just hate him because their either:

    1. PETA riders

    2. "perfect"

    3. jealous

    4. ignorsnt/racist

    5. mentally screwed up

    6. not a person of God

i dont care what people say about michael vick, i still think he is a great person. no one cares that roethlesberger tried to rape 2 women and stallworth killed a man drunk driving, bt its like people put animals first, its stupid. they treat animals like people, and its dumb! ok now if we never domesticated dogs, what would they be doing in the wild? FIGHTING! people fought dogs all the time back in the middle ages. God gave humans power over all the animals on this earth and the only reason the dog fighting was bad in God's eyes, was because its illegal, and God said obey the laws of the land. he didnt know it was illegal, he grew up in an area where dog fighting was popular and overlooked by police so he didnt think it was wrong to GET MONEY FROM IT! and he didnt kill dogs, none of his charges was for killing dogs! it was for bankrolling a dog fighting operation. i hate it when people treat animals like people and respect them more that they respect people. its dumb. an animal is an animal and thats that. yeah i know dogs have feelings, but so do horses, bulls, sheep, cows, fish, pigs, chickens, and other animals that we eat. we live off of animals and i know dog fighting is wrong, and i kno that dogs have feelings, but u kno what? dogs are animals. i know tourchuring an animal is wrong, but again, they are animals and people treat them like humans. get over the "dog fighting" crap already. atleast, unlike roethlesberger and stallworth, he is actually trying to stop people from doing what he was accused of. everyone deserves a second chance if they show remource, promise, and commitment. some people are just idiots and dont know what america was built on.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like the guy, but he did serve his time. I think anyone who commits a crime, serves his time, and works to change his ways, deserves a second chance. I don't think it should matter if it is someone getting a job at McDonald's or someone getting a job in the NFL. Vick has proven this year that he still has the talent to play in the NFL, and as long as he stays clean, he deserves to stay in the NFL.

He did his time and once he was out of prison he was free to play again once reinstated and signed by a team. The Eagles decided that Donovan McNabb would be a good mentor for him and that he'd be great in wildcat packages. They also weren't that confident in Kevin Kolb as the #2 quarterback at the time.

Have you seen his stats and everybody deserves a second chance. He is a good player and Donovan Mcnabb left them so needed a second Qb
