my kitten of 16months won't drink water. why would this be? My deceased other cat loved water. Isn't this bad?

Worries me a lot that my cat won't drink enough water. I do add it to each wet food he eats, but is there any way I can get him to drink it by himself? He gets constipated/lethargic when I don't pay attention to this problem. Should I try a type of water fountain; also, how do I keep his water warm?

Cats hate cold water, especially in the winter...

The best way to get cats to drink a lot of water is putting bowls of water all throughout the house. So the cats will have a veriety you can also give watered down yougurt or water with the tuna dripping out of a can. You can email me at mizslady01@gmail.com

If he's eating a diet of strictly canned food, he's probably getting a lot in his diet. Cats on canned-only diets do not need to drink as much as cats who eat dry. In fact, I wouldn't feed a cat with a tendency to get constipated any dry at all.

It's funny, my cats love cold water fresh from the tap. From what I've heard, cats really DO love fountains, although if I bought one I would pay a little more and get one that's stainless steel or ceramic so it can be kept really clean. Plastic is porous and can absorb bacteria and be difficult to clean.

Good luck to you. I hope you're able to keep your cat feeling well.
