What do I wear to an engagement party?

The dress code is smart/casual, but I'm not sure exactly what that means...

smart/casual would be business casual....what you would wear to the office or to church. not too dressy, but not jeans either.

Wear either dark dressy jeans or khakis with some combination of a button-down shirt, sweater, and/or blazer. For shoes, do either "nice" sneakers (not the ones you wear to the gym) or a pair of dress shoes.

Think of what you would wear out to a trendy restaurant on a date, and you should be all set.

    Casual is just that...

Dress pants/dockers, and a polo shirt or button down shirt. Or even nice jeans.

smart jeans with a shirt is smart and casual but if you want to be very smart then you could wear trousers shirt and tie, go in what is comfortable for you.

    Enjoy yourself.

    Good luck.

-dark jeans (no holes or fraying)

-a nice button down (tie is optional) OR sweater vest OR sweater OR nice polo shirt

-dress shoes OR clean, solid color sneakers

The main thing is too look nice. Don't wear anything that looks worn.
