There is no "right or wrong" time to start wearing your maternity clothes.

At 6 weeks some of my skirts were a bit tight (they were already tight lol), so I bought a bigger size. When this became too tight I moved into maternity clothes.

With my second daughter I went away for a weekend at 12 weeks and took one of my maternity dresses (from my previous pregnancy). I was wearing my size 14 trousers without a problem on the Friday and had a 3 hour journey, on the Saturday I put on the maternity dress, bliss and wandered round Blue Water for the day, by the evening I could no longer get back into the trousers I had worn the night before! LOL

Putting on maternity clothes for the first time is strange, it's kind of like announcing to the world "look at me I'm pregnant" and of course they will be big as they need to be you have a lot of growing to do.

Wear them when you are ready to do so, be comfortable and proud of the life inside you. Maternity clothes are very expensive, although more high street shops sell them now than when I had my children.

My sister in law was "determined to not be fat" and watched her weight during pregnancy and never increased other than from a 10 to a 12, until she wok up one morning at 37 weeks to discover baby had "popped out" and she went from a flat stomach to a full pregnancy stomach, with horrendous stretch marks and no clothes at all to wear!

The child is also a "very difficult child" and even she accepts that this is probably due to the stress she put her developing child under in pregnancy.

When she had her second one she wore maternity clothes from 15 weeks!

Being pregnant is a really special time, so be proud of your bump, but please don't flash bare flesh especially if it's covered in stretch marks!

    Best wishes

i worn my pre-pregnancy jeans right up until delivery, and most of the tops i wore werent maternity, just long stretchy regular tops. but i did have some maternity clothes which i wore from around 25 weeks onwards. mostly just comfy ones to chill around the house in though, my work clothes were all non-maternity. i carried very compactly though.. at full term people only thought i was about 6 months. so everyone is different.. just switch to maternity clothes when you feel you'd be more comfortable in them.

With my second two kids, I was in maternity pants (because of the bloating and nausea) at about 6 weeks. I don't remember what I did with my first. It was too long ago!

Don't fear maternity clothes! I love 'em. There's nothing more comfortable that things that stretch in every direction.

With my first pregnancy I wasn't in them until around 18 weeks I think. This time around it was more like 12. I waited until I was absolutely too uncomfortable in regular clothes. I bought one or two pairs of maternity jeans, and that's it. Otherwise regular tops are fine in a larger size.

My clothes started getting too tight by 9 weeks and in total I gained 56lbs, long time after this when my daughter was pregnant she never started wearing loose fitting clothes till she was over 6 months pregnant and gained a total of 10lbs and she was the same with her second pregnancy.

" Have You Seen Lisa Olson's new Pregnancy System yet? It's called "Pregnancy Miracle" I've read the whole thing (all 250 pages) and there's some great information in there about how to naturally get pregnant without drugs, surgery or any kind of gimmicks. I highly recommend it - it's very honest and straightforward without all the hype and b.s. you see all over the net these days. Here's the website where you can get more information.

I started wearing maternity pants around 20 weeks. I still wear my regular shirts. Like my hoodies and shirts. Just a little tighter around the belly.

I am 17 weeks tomorrow, so only 5 days ahead of you, and I havn't started to wear them yet, although the pants I have to wear as part of my work uniform are getting tight. I can still wear them, but they are slowly getting uncomfortable. I'm not really showing as yet, but I can tell by my pants that it's obviously happening! Good luck with your pregnancy!

When my regular clothes were too tight. I just bought leggings and big T-shirts, not designer maternity gear.
