Is it too soon to try on bridesmaids dresses?
Wedding is not until April 2012 (next April), but I already have my wedding dress (I got an amazing deal). So, is it too soon to take my sisters to try on bridesmaids dresses for ideas? We don't plan to order now.

It's not too soon, and it would be fun. BUT, think about this. What if you found the perfect dress for them as well and then couldn't find anything that measures up to it later. You would be sad.
I'd wait until it was more timely.

You will want to start looking about 8 months in advance so that you can finalize your selection and place your order 6 months in advance. Most stores only carry sample sizes, so the sample dresses will usually be too big or too small for your bridesmaids, but you'll see the fabric and colours and can sort of try them on. You will want to order 6 months in advance as it takes time for the store to get the dresses in and then time to do alterations. Beware of stores that try to order the dresses too large so that they can make a lot of money off alteration. Ask to see a sizing chart.
Although you are excited to shop, you run the risk of seeing a dress that you or your bridesmaids love now, and in the excitement, ordering it. Then, when the new styles come out next year, you may regret your impulsive purchase.

I would start looking online to get ideas, then you and maybe one of the bridesmaids can go take a look at what you liked in person. Sometimes in person, the dresses are not what you expected (especially colors). You can even start looking at what style you think will work best.
Since you have over a year to your wedding, there may be new styles coming available, so you may want to wait just a little while before you finalize. But remember, there is never any harm in looking ahead of time.

It's never too soon when it comes to weddings. You'll have extra time to have your bridesmaids try on dresses, pick the ones you like, and debate which one you will choose. The more time you give yourself the less stress you'll have. Plus there might be days where all the bridesmaids won't be able to show or something happens where they might have to cancel the appointment. If this happens at least you still have plenty of time until the wedding.

There is no worry to prepare too early. Just take your sisters to choose bridesmaid dresses, the earlier, the more choice you will have.
Best wishes to your wedding.

It took 5 months for one of my bridesmaids dresses to come in so I see no harm in starting to look in advance. You should probably order by summer or early fall anyway.

you could get them organized whenever you like. you in many situations order bridesmaid clothing in a length or so bigger and then have them altered as needed. i would not think of that inspite of weight fluctuation they could be better than a length or so bigger a three hundred and sixty 5 days from now, besides. get them organized a million-2 sizes bigger than needed, and then wait till a pair of months till now the marriage to start having them altered.

if you don't want to order them now, there's no point in going to look at BM gowns. if you find one you like and you don't intend to order for 6 or 8 mos, that style may be discontinued by then. so either order them now if you find one you like, or wait 6 mos and then go look at gowns.

You can try in advance, I'd say do not buy now, just have some styles for choosing
