That seems to be the hypocrites way, which falls more on one religion than the rest(it's the religion with over 30,000 different denominations by the way).

you might give the wrong message if you respond with love to the freely given love, if they have one kind of love, and you have another. They might think you have THEIR kind of love, and you might encourage them and next thing you know they will be playing the guitar under your window in the middle of the night.
