Why do Atheists care what the religious believe?
Just a thought. I have seen a lot of hatred towards the beliefs of the religious on this site, so why DO you care what others believe when it doesn't affect you in the slightest? Why do you feel compelled to be worse than the "fundies" at times by calling people names because they happen to believe in something you don't? Those who believe are NOT stupid or the like. Get to really know the person and you might be surprised. So again can you EXPLAIN why all the attacks when what they believe has nothing to do with you?

I don't give a crap what you believe.
However, start trying to foist your superstitions onto society by fiat and legislation, continue to oppress the rights of others, and fly airplanes into buildings and I care a lot.
Those acts have everything to do with me and mine.

ought to you likely have did not observe the relentless assaults on atheists by utilising the non secular maximum impressive? Or the dramatic injury the fundamentalists (Christian and Islamic especially) are doing to western civilization? Or that the non secular human beings performed an instrumental place in making George Bush the President of u . s . a . of america, actual the large tragic adventure of the previous 20 years right here. If the non secular persons might only pass away us on my own, we would not care in any respect. yet they don't, and that i strongly suspect they don't even understand how plenty they are imposing on us.

TeaWitch, even as a Witch I strongly object to SOME of the Religious on here. Anyone who feels that their Religion is the foundation to our way of life. Any one who feels that their Religiously based "Moral Code" is the basis for our society and that this code should be the LAW under which ALL should and must live upon pain of imprisonment. ALL of that affects ME very much. It affects how I live my day to day life. It affects whether or not my children will be taken from me, my job will be taken from me, my home will become attacked and vandalized and whether I am personally safe in my own safety. When the overly Religious seek to force the REST of society to live according to their dogmatic interpretations then it infringes upon MY rights to freely live by and practice my OWN Religion. And THAT is why I and everyone ELSE should stand up in opposing ANY and EVERY Religious group that seeks such power over all the other groups. And you DO know that there are and who they are and what they are out to accomplish.
Now IF they would just mind their OWN business and keep their nose out of mine, I would have zero problem with them and wouldn't care if they worship their God, standing on their heads drinking tea, while wearing kilts.
Brightest Blessings,

Ah, but it does affect us. If everyone just kept their religion a private matter and it was never mentioned, I wouldn't care at all. The only time I'm mean is when I see an incredibly ignorant/idiotic question or when someone is trying to change me or ask me why I can't see reality etc.

I don't generally care about what religious people believe as long as they don't affect the freedom of others or persecute them.
I sometimes explain how I came from being a devout Catholic to realising that faith was based upon nothing but itself, that science explained nature satisfactorily without needing supernatural beings, and that religious beliefs were no different to those of ancient beliefs in gods and goddesses.
I try to answer based on my knowledge of scripture, theology, mythology and religion. And I sometimes try to trace religious beliefs, and Bible stories, back to the earlier myths from which they derive.
I think I do so in a neutral manner most of the time, although I might express an opinion concerning actions of a few religious people or organisations that adversely affect freedom of choice and civil and human rights, such as the infamous Proposition 8 in California.

If it makes their life bearable to believe their lies, I'm fine with it. I'm fine with about anything that makes a person happy. When they follow their religion to the extent of hurting others and having prejudices, I have a problem. A nice Christian is fine. A Christian that is telling the LGBT community they should die and go to hell, and God doesn't love them, or a Christian doing that to anymore really, that's inexcusable. In that case I will battle them to the end to see how horrible and stupid they are being.

Hi tea ! If we as Christians do not take a stand then that leaves the world wide open for the atheist to rule and frankly it appears they just do not like competition

I dont' care what anyone believes... until they start attempting to force those beliefs on others, interfere with education and law and spread bigotry against gays and others.

You because religious make their beliefs into laws to force everybody to follow their religion

Because their beliefs affect their actions and in these affect the society. That's why.

I don't care what they believe. I care how they behave. They are the ones telling ME I'm going to hell. I'm the one called on the carpet by my boss because i admit to being an atheist and give my reasons why. I'm the one being told I have no morals. If they want to believe in fairies and gods fine with me. I'm just tired of being expected to believe it too and being treated like a pariah when I'm open about NOT believing it.
