Should we move back home?
My fiance and I are 24/25 years old and we will be getting married April of next year. We were thinking about moving back with my mom once our current lease is up in October. Our reasoning for doing this is so we can save what we spend on rent to put towards a house. We hope to live with my mom for about 6 months then buy a house. We aren't having a problem paying our rent or bills, we just feel it would be easier to save for a house. If living with my mom doesn't work out we can always go back to renting.
My mom is ok with us living with her as well.
Please no rude comments, I will report. Thank you in advance.

* More people are doing that just to make ends meet. Not uncommon at all, good luck with your marriage I wish you all the best.

The concept works but the idea of sucking off Mom stinks. Pay her the money you plan to save as rent and have her give it to you as a wedding present. Makes sense tax wise, you get rent credit and don't pay income tax on the gift. Mom does not feel like she is being taken advantage of and if there is an emergency there is cash to cover it.

It wasn't too long ago that it was normal for your mom to share your house with you and your new spouse. As long as the two of you and your mom can work out responsibilities and expectations, your plan makes a lot of sense - but it is important to have a discussion about those responsibilities and expectations so no one feels like they're being taken advantage of.

If you're ok with it, he's ok with it, mom's ok with it, and you'll save money, then why not move back home. Sounds like a good deal to me.
