Why do so many Liberals want a Healthcare system like Canada?
Why do so many Liberals want a Healthcare system like Canada when the Canadian government can pull the plug on a sick toddler forcing his parent to move to the US to get the care he needs? That is just horrible. We should be thankful to live in a country where WE get to choose when to pull the plug and not some bureaucrat.

Because it is a far superior system that actually takes care of the people.
You list a single case as an example of why the Canadian system is so terrible, yet ignore the 50 million people without health care in your country. Many of whom die every year because of your greed.

The health care reform act is like none other in the world, including Canada. There is nothing in the health care bill that will allow the government to choose what care you receive. That decision is now and will remain with your insurance company. I hate to surprise you, but that Canadian couple is paying cash.

Who said we want a system like Canada? We want a system where if someone has a severe medical condition, they don't go into bankruptcy. We want a system where you don't have to send your claim to your insurance company 3 times and then argue with them on the phone to get them to pay it. That sort of thing. When given the choice between providing service or appeasing stockholders, insurance companies will always choose profit over people.

What on Earth are you talking about ?
The Canadians made a sane humane Conservative business decision about a terminal child that was in their care
"We should be thankful to live in a country where WE can spend unlimited amounts of other people's money helping parents to deny that their kid is already dead. "

Actually, there have been many times when an American hospital has refused to provide care to someone who is brain dead. This isn't something unique to the Canadian system.
(and yes, I realize this child is not brain dead but sadly he won't live much longer with or without treatment.)

They are either uninformed or misinformed of the horrors that make up socialized medicine. I find it ironic that the Canadian health care system has topped 1800% of the costs that it was promised to cost. That is right ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY TIMES MORE THAN PROJECTED. It is $60 billion short and they are looking at......PRIVATIZING INSURANCE!!!!!
Thumbs down all you want, but these are facts.
Bradley...you are believing sensationalized BS from the left and the media. We do NOT have 50 million uninsured. We have about 30 million. That is about 1% of the population. This also includes AT LEAST 10 million who are illegally in this country. They should NEVER be given assistance of any kind in this country. They are criminals.
So, now we are looking at 20 million uninsured. Approximately 7 million of those already qualify for Medicare, Medicaid or SCHIP, but have not signed up.
Now we are at 13 million. There is an estimated 4 million who openly say that they can afford insurance but are healthy and choose not to.
There we have 9 million. If you knew anything about Americans you could EASILY see that there are AT LEAST 1/2 of those who have 3 new car payments, cell phones for every member of their family, an RV that they are making payments on...but claim that they cannot afford health insurance.
So AT MOST, we have about 5 million uninsured who truly cannot afford it. We could provide moderate health insurance for them for one hell of a lot less than our ridiculous plan and less than the idiots in Canada who think that their health care is free pay.
I laugh when Canadians claim that their health care is free...considering that they were promised that the entire system would be paid for by a $.25/liter tax....but that has gone up to around $.50/liter and a large portion of their provincial and national sales tax (averaging a total of 18%) goes to pay for it, and there is STILL a huge shortfall.
If you think that US health care is expensive, you should see it in countries where it is "free" lol
I GUARANTEE that you pay one hell of a lot more in taxes than I pay for my health insurance.

End of life decisions are getting harder and harder these days. Remember Terry Schiavo?
It's never easy to decide what to do.
