Most convincing would have to be Cannibal Holocaust.

Banned in many countries, the director, Ruggerio Deodato was arrested at the premiere in Italy, because they thought the film was real.

After that I would have to say Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1973) Tobe Hooper

And Dead Silence...creepy.... I HATE dolls!

My favorite horror movie from today's era is Paranormal activity parts 1 and 2, they're pretty good, they tie together soo perfectly that the story never leaves you with doubts or questions unless the questions are the ones that will soon be answered in a sequel, im a person that's seen WAY TOO MANY horror movies, from all era's (im a movie critic), and i don't really get scared too much anymore, horror movies are all the same for me now, but Paranormal Activity was different, it was refreshing to see a different style in horror.

My favorite horror movies are the nightmare on elm street movies, the remake too,

Evil dead was good, Japanese horror movies from the 90s are always awesome

Source(s): I watch movies and review them

From Hell is one of my absolute favorites. The Silence of the Lambs, Nosferatu w/ Klaus Kinski, Dracula with Keanu Reeves; Frankenstein w/ Robert DeNiro, there are many, many others.

The Evil Dead! The ultimate experience in grueling terror! Ultra-gory, very freaky and it comes with the perfect amount of camp! Cult classics FTW.
