Monitor display is blank, problem with video card?

When I first installed my video card it worked fine for three months and then after that I found that when I try to turn on my computer the monitor will not display anything. (Yes connections are secure and the power light is on) When I press the power button on the monitor, the screen displays so and so for half a second. I wanted to see if maybe my video card was dead so I connected my computer to my television and it displayed fine, so perhaps it is that my video card does not work with my monitor in particular, or is my monitor malfunctioning? I don't have another monitor to test on. I have a Nvidia GT240.

Update:

Thanks for your helpful answer, unfortunately I just realized that really, the problem was that my monitor was already dead. I'm just going to get a new one. It has served me for 6 years. R.I.P.

Maybe your existing monitor doesn't meet the VGA's high resolution specifications. try to change your primary monitor resolution settings via your TV. example: if you use you TV as monitor 2 try selecting Monitor 1 then slide the display setting into lower resolution which you think can handle by your real monitor...

Note: Make sure that both the monitor and the TV's connected before doing so! so!

God Bless and hoping this could help solve the problem...

sounds like your computer is trashed and infected with viruses. you will need to take it in.
