Does "OMG" bother you?
Our household does NOT allow this to be spoken. We consider it unholy. It's a personal choice that we, as a family, have decided to enforce with our children. I am finding it disturbing though that "omg" seems to be on nearly every channel. It's even the title of some kid's shows! Just out of curiousity, how do you feel about this? Does it bother you or is it just another catch phrase? and this isn't meant as a finger-wagging judgement question....I'm just curious. :D

Isn’t using “OMG”, really blaspheming God’s name?
Didn’t He warn us in His word, the Bible, that He will not hold guiltless all who misuse His name? Exodus 20:7 Blasphemy can be forgiven.
Why not simply do what God requires, confess your sins to God, truly sorry from your heart and simply ask His forgiveness? He will, completely. Then turn from your sins and turn *to* God proving your repentance is real. Trust that Jesus’ death on the cross took the punishment your sins deserved. All who do will receive eternal life and be empowered by the Holy Spirit to do what He commands. Why do you delay?

I know what it originally stands for, but I consider it as : Oh My Gosh instead.
Growing up we weren't allowed to say the words OMG. I guess some would construe it as taking His name in vain. Some think it's harmless. However the GD words I am totally against.
I really don't think the OMG is meant to be harmful by anyone who uses it. Of course in this diverse world, it could be construed as many things.

I have read where it is considered blasphemous to say Oh my God, but I am confused as to exactly how.
Isn't this an expression of faith, declaring Him as my God?
The same way as, Lord have mercy is asking Him to have mercy over the problem at hnd?
It is blasphemous only if you mean it that way.

Some people say it like, Oh My Gosh. Just an FYI. Personally I couldn't care less. It's a saying.

YES! But not for your reason. It certainly isn't any more unholy than the rest of the texting shorthands that have risen up out of our phones to infest the rest of our world.

Yes, of course it bugs me, and I am only 14. Seriously, people! Children shows! Little kids don't need to be hearing things like that! Even Disney's gone bad! A decade ago this was not acceptable! I don't see why it is now!

nope, I say it all the time. Force of habit.

If it makes you feel any better for the last couple years I've been saying "Oh My Gods" as I'm a polytheist.

It's a bit stupid in my opinion to find it offensive :s as it IS just an expression and it doesn't have any sort of offensive nature to it towards the Lord etc. Really, REALLY bloody stupid -.-

I choose to spend my time being concerned about "bigger ticket" items. It's not everybody's fault that english speaking christians chose to name their god GOD. There are plenty of other gods and goddesses in the universe who are not named GOD. If OMG worries you maybe you should reconsider your christian-centric view and consider the G to mean god and not your GOD. That way it ceases to be "unholy" whatever that means.

Are you talking about the actual term "oh-em-gee" or "oh-my-god"?
"oh-em-gee" is just another term over used like LOL. I think OMG bugs me more because of it's over use than it's actual meaning. When i would visit my grandmother, she was very religious and would yell at us whenever we used God's name in vein. I don't think kids now-a-days even realize it's meaning, or wouldn't even realize that it is using His name in vein.
