Does she have Autism?
I am almost sure that the 20 month old that I babysit has Autism or some sort of sensory issue.
* the only words that she says are "baby," "momma," and "key," she used to say a lot more over the summer but her language has regressed.
- she doesn't make eye contact.
* she doesn't respond to her name.
- she throw tantrums constantly; arching her back, screaming, crying, kicking, stomping for no apparant reason. When I babysat her on last, she did not go a full 15 minutes without screaming.
* instead of playing with toys, she prefers to run laps around the living room and scream.
- I've seen her rub her head against the floor plenty of times.
Her mom has no idea; they just think she's a late talker. Does this sound like Autism to you?

It sounds like some sort of sensory issue. You need to be very careful to try not to diagnose a child. They won't be able to know until she's at least 3. Check for other signs like do inconsistencies in routine really upset her? Does she stand on her tip toes more often than other kids? I'd suggest early intervention to her mom. Explain that they can help with her language delay. Their services are only available until she turns 3 though. Be careful not to offend mum with your suggestion. Good luck.

I think her parents would notice these signs before you if they were constant. Maybe she acts this way around you for some reason.
