How long will it take me to lose 40lb?

I am currently eating 3 smallish meals a day (probably in the wrong order as I still eat my big dinner in the evening as this is what my work day allows before you all start on about eat less in the evening etc etc, I am aware of this rule and when I can I live by it however it's not always as easy as that) which typically consist of Breakfast - Banana, glass of OJ and a bowl of bran or cornflakes with Soya milk. Lunch - Salad (5 cherry toms, 1/4 oinion, 1/2 bell pepper, 1/2 carrot grated, and one green chili chopped. sesoned with lemon juice spices and a little salt) and a bit of oily fish, usually tinned or smoked mackerel, or hummus or a bit of chicken and a pitta bread or chapati. and tea (dinner) is usually either a bigger version of the lunch salald or something like home made pasta sauce (on pasta!) grilled chicken rice and salad or somthing along those lines but always homemade from fresh ingredients.

I drink mostly water and do not drink tea or coffee except for weekends and i have cut down on my drinking a lot cutting out beer.

I do approximately 30 minutes walking per day as part of my day to day (sometimes more) and add to this 20 -30 mins 5 times per week on an eliptycal trainer.

I have been at this for about 3 weeks now and i was wondering how long it will take to see some results, inch loss etc, I'm getting married next year and would like to go from a size 16 (uk sizes!) to a 14/12. any advice?

Hello there, I am not sure to be honest I dont usually weigh myself that often (or at all, I find I'm very competitive with myself and if I can see the results displayed numerically then I tend to go a bit overboard and unhealthy)

I usually measure my sucess (or lack of) in colthes and comfort

    Excellent that you are eating homemade, fresh foods! Keep that up! Add more lean protein to your diet, cut out the fruit juice (it's mainly sugar) and eat some dairy at breakfast. Hard boil eggs and eat them as a snack; raw nuts like walnuts and cashews can be conveniently tucked into a desk drawer or purse for a quick snack, as well.

    There are many alternatives to milk, if you are lactose intolerant...almond milk, coconut, rice and soy contain more calcium than milk and even the flavored varieties have less calories. Divide your current weight in half and consume that much water daily to help flush out your system. Add a few cucumber slices and mint to a pitcher of water & keep it in the fridge, if plain water bores you!

    Beer, on occasion, will not derail your efforts to lose weight...the key is: moderation!

    You should start to see a change in your waistline within a week or so. Within about 20 weeks, you can lose 40 pounds. Congrats on your upcoming nuptials! :)

    i would recomend slimming world,,a lot less restrictive, much more realistic thus substainable. a healthy weight loss rate should be approx 2 lbs a week. do not crash diet,,its will not work long term and lead to problems and make you miserable. slimming world is great, you can eat loads of good food and never go hungry,, gopod luck.

    Can i ask, how much kilos or pounds have you lost in 3 weeks im very interested. And i think you can lose 40lb in about 3 months.

    Probably two months if you follow a strict regimen.
