Is it realistic for a woman to hunt with a longbow?
My sister is looking to get a hunting bow (moose hunting in particular), and she seems quite settled on getting a longbow, because they are generally "light". I told her that she probably can't handle the draw weight of a longbow, and she should probably go composite. Are there longbows made with a relatively light draw weight that can bring down a moose? She is about 5'2 and 110 lb, so not exactly a beefy lady either.

So, to start with - most states have a minimum poundage requirement for archery hunting - in other words, in Washington if you can't pull 40 pounds, you can't hunt with it.
Second, for the various game animals there are recommended energy and yardage tables for archery. For example, if your gear generates over 70 foot pounds of energy with a decent quality and weight broadhead on it, you can hunt just about anything North America has to offer.
In choosing a single material long bow your sister, particularly with her stature has put herself at an extreme disadvantage for both of those things. Long bows are the least efficient at conversion of pounds of draw weight to foot pounds of energy delivered.
Finally, moose? That is a hell of a big animal. It's definitely a quartering away, heart - lung shot with a bow to bring one down from a reasonably peppy arrow with a good large sharp broadhead. Not sure 5.2" and 110 lbs which probably equates to a 25" draw or less is going to get that done with a long bow.

No its not realistic- its pretty stupid.
The real question is should bow hunting be illegal?
This hunting BS has gotten completely out of hand.
I have hunted all my life. I quit just a few short years ago. I am "pro" hunting. But there are so many idiots running around now days that this has become dangerous.
Only an idiot will take a woman on a moose hunt who "thinks" she wants a longbow. And I hope she is not stupid enough to go by herself. Is there no one around this woman that is responsible enough to tell her she needs to find another hobby.

I don't see why not.
For hunting a MOOSE?
No, that's not a good idea.

Bow -hunt yes. Hunt moose, NO.
Moose can go to 1200 lb.s, can be dangerous when injured,
and thinking of dropping one with a light long-bow is just not realistic.
You'd have to get way too close and place the shot too precisely.
Arrows don't usually drop large game quickly.
At her size, she'd just about be able to draw and hold a 40 lb. long-bow,
and that's the lower limit for white-tails, that run up to only about 200 lb.s.
The long-bow is lighter to carry, but the advantage in the 'let-off' of a
compound bow would permit her to draw a heavier weight and still
shoot accurately.

Sure, IF she can pull the necessary draw weight required.
Most states have requirements on draw weight for bows, just as they do on calibers for firearms, to be used in hunting.
