Wedding gift ideas for my friend who isn't having a wedding?
My best friend recently got engaged but is not planning on having a wedding . She is having a private ceremony with only her parents present. Her mom is planning a party for her to celebrate, on a different day, but she refuses to call it a wedding. She doesn't like to be in the spotlight and doesn't want all the stress of planning a wedding. Me and another friend of hers is going to go dress shopping together for her, and then have a nice dinner to celebrate. I want to get her a nice gift, since I haven't gotten her an engagement gift yet, and there will not be any showers, bachelorette parties or receptions. Any ideas? She isn't registered for anything. I want a nice gift for the couple, as well as a fun gift basket or something just for her.
Also to note, her soon to be husband doesn't drink at all...so no alcoholic related gifts for him. They rent an apartment currently, but do not own a home.

Your friend sounds like a very nice person with absolutely no airs! How about getting her a handcrafted jewelry box? I am sure she will have some jewelry and trinkets that she treasures. I gave a friend a MarqART jewelry box recently and she finds it very useful. It looks great on the dresser and acts as a conversation piece too. Check out the MarqART collection. I am sure you will find something that will suit her. It has marquetry work done on it and has some amazing designs and images. Prices are good too.

Do you want something that will last or something that is more of an 'experience'? How much money do you have to spend? Here are some ideas I think would be nice;
- Professional Photography Shoot
- Restaurant Voucher
- Hotel Gift Voucher (would be great if it is a chain like Hilton for example - then they could use it on their honeymoon if they are having one?)
- Crystal (eg. a bowl or vase)
A wedding gift is usually a more expensive gift, so if you don't have a whole lot of money then maybe you can share the cost with another friend?

Try www.VegasStripperUniversity.com. My wife had her bachelorette party there and all the girls had a blast. They learned all types of pole dancing and lap dancing moves. I think that the company even got them into a few of the clubs without waiting in the long lines

Whether your friend calls it a wedding or not, if they are being married, that is a wedding! Saying the "I dos" in a court house, or back yard or a park ---it is still a wedding.

All newlyweds need money, so just write her a check. 99% of the gifts she gets will be cash or checks.

a new cookbook and kitchen stuff
couples massage for her and her new spouse
Nice picture frame with her wedding date (or getting married but not calling it a wedding date) on it.

Give them a nice photo album. As for our best friend, you can give her a gift certificate to a spa.
