Am i the only responsible gun owner who likes firearm related video games?

it seems like everyone on here bashes people who play games like call of duty. i can understand being upset because some 12 year old comes on here and wants to shoot 5.56 out of a pellet gun lol but you gotta admit that some of these games are very realistic and can be extremely entertaining.

just so you know i am 21 years old so yeah a lot of you probably think im just a kid but i respect firearms and the responsibility that comes with owning them.

Update:

i'm not saying realistic from a ballistics standpoint, but the guns themselves look right and you can physically see the character on the game manipulating the weapon. when you use the 1911 for example it shows the hammer fall and the slide go back and reset the hammer. i just think its pretty cool. people are entitled to their opinion. thats why i asked.

Update 2:

As for Winobot Dukket, i KNOW that i am responsible. i dont care what you think is common.

Nope - I enjoy them a good deal - or did when I had more time. I actually prefer the games with an actual "gun" style controller - Like Area 51. In fact, I tend to see those sorts of "true" first person shooter as a sort of analog for getting real trigger time. I saw improvement in my real time between targets with practice in that virtual environment. No recoil, targets are moving, gun is lightweight, trigger has no weight - it really is all about how fast can you pick up the front sight if you play it that way.

More or less I think that sometimes people get a little too wound about what they read here. (me included) I think there are plenty of trolls out there just trying to yank our chains. Combine those with the kids that want to play at armchair gun enthusiast and sometimes it's worth stepping back from the keyboard.

Although i actually own and sometimes play COD black ops, i understand why people get frustrated with the people that play these games. Ive seen countless idiots on youtube arguing with people about weapons in videos, like "the ak74u is a submachine gun, not an assault rifle". Seems like lots of kids are basing all of their firearm " knowledge" on these games, which is very scary from a safety standpoint. You dont want to go to the range with this type of person around, there are enough idiots in this world already.

I admit that particular game is entertaining, but realistic? Barely. I could spend about 40 minutes typing up all the errors and downright falsifications in that game. As for you and firearms, that doesnt seem common nowadays. I was raised in a rural environment, shooting guns long before i picked up a videogame controller. That isnt the case for most of these kids, and that could prove to cause lots of problems when they actually are old enough to buy the guns they see in games, which most seem to want to do.

EDIT: No need to get defensive. I was simply stating that it wasnt common, i wasnt saying that you were irresponsible. There really isnt much of a way i could judge that through the internet...

i played video games before i was allowed to keep & bear arms. never really got into modern FPS games, and before i could bu ya gun, all i knew was video game guns (which none where real)

i have & still occasionally play games like:

    Counter Strike 1.6

    Counter Strike Source

    Day of Defeat 1.3

Postal 2 (the most ridiculous game I've ever played)

    several half life mods

    Crysis

    Deus Ex (1,2)

Once I got into having real guns I discarded everything i knew about video game guns are they're fake and stupid. actually the only reason why i played video games was because I couldn't have the real thing.

I'd say I'm a responsible gun owner. but i still often try "dumb" things, such as shooting pellets out of my 22lr rifle using nail gun blanks or

Actually you're not alone. I'm a married 34 year old soon to be dad who loves playing CODMW2 and CODBO, both on PC. I'm a responsible gun owner, and no, I don't care to build a collection of the weapons that are available in the games. I know the difference between video game guns and real life guns.

@jake (below me) - i have real guns and i still want an airsoft gun for in my garage fun drunk target practice on the sticky 'dart board' made for airsoft rounds.

There's nothing wrong with playing some video games. It's the video game questions in the hunting section that are annoying.

I like playing an old Gran Turismo game, but I don't bother the Cars & Transportation section with questions like "Which is better: The Ferrari F430 or Lamborghini Murcielago?"

I know what you mean. Video games are part of American Culture so its always fun to beat people online and catch up with friends. Its normal and this isn't like playing airsoft. If you have real guns and are still buying airsoft guns then there might be something wrong with you;) .22lr pistols are a good alternative to co2.

I play call of duty on occasion and have guns,Its just most people that play video games no nothing outside of video games.

Like my cousin for example, when I see him (not to often, maybe 2 or 3 times a month) all he talks about are video games.

I kinda out grew the videogame thing when I became a gun owner, I had more fun with shooting then i did with videogames

Also when I became a firearm owner I didnt really have time for both.

although I still enjoy the occasional videogame, but don't enjoy when kids take them as fact
