It depends, what you are going to do if you get an amnio result which confirms your baby has Downs syndrome? If you would be prepared to terminate the pregnancy (abort) then go ahead with the amino but bear in mind there is a slight risk of miscarriage with the procedure (1 in 100 thereabouts) which would be disastrous if the baby does not have Downs. Your would lose a perfectly healthy baby.
If you are not prepared to terminate the pregnancy under any circumstance then don't have the test, what is the point of going through a painful risky procedure if you are not going to act on the result?
Most detailed 4D cans can detect Downs at this stage I would have thought? You really need to discuss all your options with your obstetrician. Best of luck with it all.

Don't get too stressed! I know that there are TONS of false positives, in fact I know at least 5 people that have had normal babies after they first received those results! I would get an amnio done to confirm the results, only if you are considering terminating the pregnancy. Really though, it's your own decision. Sorry you are having to go through this stress.

It's very, very possible to have a false positive. The tests aren't usually very accurate. They do the tests as a precaution. They do this to make sure they do everything possible to keep the child healthy through the rest of the pregnancy and through delivery. Don't worry too much about it, because it could be wrong.

I had this with both of mine, I refused any other tests as I was keeping my babies and didn't want to think about anything else, they were both born fine. This is probably due to your age, stop worrying x
