How to heal the pain in neck?

My mom has an ache in her neck. It really hurts her. She's tried everything! She took Tylenol twice each day she's had the pain. She sleeps with a heating pad. She rubs cream on it. It's only been there 3 days. I massage it for her. Nothing seems to work. She never did anything to her neck. What will help?

Update:

She can't take Advil or Alieve because she takes coumaddin, a blood thinner for the blood clot in her leg. Thanks anyways!

First of all, I'm not a doctor, but tylenol isn't a good anti-inflammatory. Advil or Alieve are better at helping inflamed tissues.

I also found that it helps my neck pain by gently tilting my head to each side so it stretches. Do the same forward and back. Then repeatedly shrug the shoulders to help stretch the shoulder muscles.

    I'd recommend seeing a chiropractor.

She could've slept on it wrong. When my mom's neck hurts, she goes to the chiropractor for an adjustment. Your mom should probably visit the local chiropractor to talk about her neck pain.
