African nations are not economically stable because of all the civil war and fighting between tribes
same with most of the middle eastern nations war and revolution
Haiti is having economical trouble because of the earthquake and overall lack of exportable goods

Laziness, corruption, nepotism, selfishness, superstition, etc etc. Mostly laziness though.
