There is no "time limit" to be considered a classic.

Actually, there is a time limit to being a timeless classic. Twilight, like many other books that are popular know, won't even be heard of twenty years from now (everything from Twilight, to the Hunger Games, in all honesty, I wouldn't be surprised if Harry Potter is gone) A timeless classic is a book that, obviously, is time less. For example, people still enjoy, and the books are popular, Lord of the Rings, books by Charles Dickens, older books like that. Those can be considered timeless classics. Not something written this century.
Besides that, Twilight just isn't well written. Even if you enjoy the books, you couldn't call it, writing wise, a literary masterpiece. Also, there's nothing new in Twilight. Other books will - and probably soon - replace it.

How can anyone know what will be a timeless classic until time has actually passed. If people are still reading Twilight after the book has been released from its copyright constraints, then it will be considered timeless (like The Great Gatsby or A Tale of Two Cities). If people stop reading it in twenty or so years, then it will not be a timeless classic.
Reading tastes of the public are forever changing.

lmao!!! Twilight will never be a "Timeless Classic". XD
First off, it's a poorly written, cliched fad. Once this whole "vampires are cool" thing dies down, nobody will care about Twilight because then the glaringly bad writing will be exposed.
Second, it doesn't contribute anything towards Western thought or culture, except highlighting the fact that the author really knows how to use a Thesaurus, and she believes vampires are tinkly-winkly, sparkley emo boys.
Third, the only market that considers it "awesome" right now are teenage girls. It excludes too many audiences to be considered a "classic".

Edit: @ImJustSaying - and yet you didn't answer the question, and only answered to snark yourself? tsk tsk
I didn't say it was a terrible book (but it is), but I answered _why_ it will _not_ be a timeless classic. Please pay attention to the question before throwing in your own 2 cents. :)
You can't compare classics to Twilight, it just doesn't compute.

because the writing is mediocre and it sends awful messages to teenage girls? stephanie myer's depiction of edward and bella's love is way too extreme to the point where in the second sequel, bella is basically suicidal because edward as left her. what kind of message does that send to society's teenage girls? that they should revolve their entire world around a boy? that life cannot go on unless that one person is apart of it? it's horrible. the twilight series is not well written and will never be considered a timeless classic.
here is a link of an article explaining every reason why twilight is the worst series EVER

no. stephenie meyer is an poor author. of direction twihards are going to be like OMG NO SHES large..yet its a fact. ask any author or every person who is familiar with something approximately literature. shes merely undesirable. that's why she in all danger could desire to in basic terms shrink is as a youthful grownup author. she is great while it comes with creativity, merely no longer the technical qualifications. Twilight additionally hasnt even been out long sufficient to be seen a classic. i recommend do you think of five years after Jane Austens books have been printed human beings have been calling them classics? no. additionally there is an exceedingly decide on few while it is composed of people who study Twilight. i comprehend it has bought many copies and there's a extensive volume of followers, yet related to something of the worlds inhabitants in basic terms a small demographic reads it. yet i could could desire to declare the main important reason it wont be a classic is bc she cant write nicely worth a crap.

Merely because a mildly homoerotic, irritatingly vapid tween fantasy is heavily popular with barely pubescent girls does not mean it is good writing. Jersey Shore is very popular with insipid housewives and guidos alike, and it makes me hemorrhage internally. How do pretty-boy, sparkly vampires (which is an injustice to their myths and legends) who constantly pursue a boring, pale girl constitute as a "timeless classic"? Why don't we just start naming articles out of Reader's Digest timeless classics. This is about the same level of thinking.

The characters are incredibly shallow and ill developed. The plot is ill developed. In short, it's not well written and I believe most classics are well written. The authors of classics know what they're doing. They're not *just* telling a story, they're asking you to read between the lines, understand what they're saying beneath the surface. Meyer doesn't do that. She's a good storyteller but that's about it.

Because it's not timeless.
Once people are over the Vampire fad, Twilight will be over

because it is not well written, it has not a shred of moral value, and one day teen girls will wake up and say that vampires aren't "cool" anymore. I mean come on people! the whole myth was based on a sociopath serial killer in Transylvania that drank people's blood and put their heads on a stake and now vampires are supposed to be some sparkly pretty boy?

please tell me why the mention of twilight brings out haters out like a shark frenzy? I do believe jealousy may be to blame Why else would ppl feel so much hate over a book that they could simply ignore! I love twilight and apparently so does millions of ppl If it was as bad as you ppl say, then why does it still do so well? the movies are doing exceptionally well too! Its called entertainment and the twilight books and movies are entertaining! Grow up loathers and find something new to complain about! I for one have the whole series on my book shelf right next to dean Koontz's odd thomas! to answer your question Shannon, its already a classic to me!
