How long until my cat gives birth?

My cat Pixie is pregnant and I'm having a hard time deciding when I think she will give birth.

In the past week we have noticed she has almost tripled in size around her belly area and you can feel and if looking closely, visibly see the kittens moving around. Her nipples have also gotten very pink and are sticking out. Everyday she has been sleeping almost the whole day and eating + using her litterbox a lot more than usual. If we try to pick her up she growls and wont accept it.

I am thinking she has maybe a week until she gives birth, but I can't be certain.

She is 11 months old and seems like she will be a good mother, but I need to know when so I can be ready.

Should I let her outside and if I do is there a chance she will have them out there?

Thanks~

Lily.

Thanks for the advice guys! I'll just keep her inside. I'll try to see if she has any discharge of milk when I look at her next. I have experience with birthing kittens so it will be no problem! She has been wanting to be close to me at the moment following me around, etc.

I'll let you know when they come! Thanks again!

Cats are pregnant 63 days. If she's already three times her normal size and you can see the kittens moving, it shouldn't be long. I would NOT allow her outside. She could have the kittens outside and you may never find where they are! Kittens are really clever when it comes to hiding their babies! I'd say by the end of the week! But furbabies are like real babies and come when they are ready! Is she having any kind of discharge? You said she's eating alot more than normal? Usually within 24 hours of giving birth they stop eating in preparation for the birth. Is there anything coming out of the nipple if you gently sqeeze them? Or will she even let you? Picking her up may cause her alot of pain right now. She's got alot of extra weight! She'll start acting strange, following you around, and not letting you out of her site! She will let you know when it's time! Find her a quiet place, put down some towels or old blankets that you won't mind pitching! You will also need a small pair of sterile scissors, bulb syringe, extra towels, and dental floss. With her being so young, she may not know what to do. So you may have to pull the sac off, suction the kitten gently, dry it off with towels and cut and tie the umbilical chord with the dental floss. Hope this helps! Let us know how Momma does!

Don't you think you've added to the pet overpopulation enough? Don't you think you've put your poor /cat/ through enough? Call your vet and schedule a spay abort ASAP. You weren't responsible enough to have your cat spayed before she could become pregnant, now do the responsible thing and fix your mistake. There are more than enough homeless cats in the world as it is and every kitten you would rehome from this litter would take away a potential home for a cat or kitten already sitting in a shelter or rescue. Yes there is a chance she will have them outside. Do you have some sort of house? Like a doghouse or something you can build inside? Just put a bed of alot of blankets and get her used to it. or just build a nice comfy bed in a dark closet. It sounds like those kittens could be coming any day now. There's no actual way to tell exactly when they will be born, but just keep her inside and comfortable with extra food so she can support those babbies.

    Good luck!

they could come tomorrow for all we no! just watch her carefully! i have never birthed kittens but make her a bed in a private place with towels try to tell her this is where she can have the babies! do NOT let her outside! and check on the kittens every day! but don't do it to much or mama might get mad! just make sure they are ok and healthy because my grandmas cat had kittens and my kitten Bella and Muffin( who died when she was 6 days old because the mama had them on some boxes and Muffin slipped in between the boxes and when i found him he was barley alive but now he is in kitten heaven!) so anyway i saw that when ever Bella moved Muffin would to so i picked them up and muffins umbilical cord was around Bella's neck! but i toke them to my dad and he cut it! and now Bella is a happy almost 12 week old baby! but anyways just check on them every day and it would be best if you had a play pin or something to put her in and lay towels down in their and look on the internet what to do when she is giving birth! cause she might need help because she is so young! hope i helped! best of luck i wish you could send me pics of them! and let me no if one is gray and white please! my aunt wants one!
