God felt it important enough to give himself a name and he choose a name that helped people understand his qualities. Greek it's Yahwah in hebrew it's YHWH in english it's Jehovah it means "he cause to become or I am what I am". In this definition he shows he can become what ever we need at that particular time, we might need a comforter at noe time but a savior at another time so he becomes what we need at that time. Exodus 3:15

Absolutely! God invites us to "draw close to him"- James 4:7 How can you draw close to someone and get to know them if you do not learn/use their personal name? That name can be found in the Bible at Psalms 83:18! A personal name is not a title such as LORD or God .

Even in human interaction, you can't claim to know someone if you don't know their name, same for God. we are supposed to be close to him, and we don't know his name? That doesn't make sense to me. God, lord, those are titles, not names. There are many Gods, there are many lords, but there is only one true God, and to differentiate him from the other fake ones, we need to use his name.

    Peace

To Know God's name is necessary.. and God knows best to how to Praise him..

    God says in Quran:-

Allah is He, than Whom there is no other god;- the SOVEREIGN, the HOLY ONE, the SOURCE of PEACE (and Perfection), the Guardian of Faith, the Preserver of Safety, the Exalted in Might, the Irresistible, the Supreme: Glory to Allah. (High is He) above the partners they attribute to Him.

He is Allah, the CREATOR, the EVOLVER, the Bestower of Forms (or Colours). To Him belong the MOST BEAUTIFUL NAMES: whatever is in the heavens and on earth, doth declare His Praises and Glory: and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

    ( سورة الحشر , Al-Hashr, Chapter #59, Verse #23-24)

Source(s): AL QURAN.. There are 99 names and Attributes of God mentioned in the Quran.. peace

  • Acts 4:12 ESV And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

Moses shows us the importance of knowing God's name:

Exodus 3:4-15 ESV When the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, "Moses, Moses!" And he said, "Here I am." (5) Then he said, "Do not come near; take your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground." (6) And he said, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God. (7) Then the LORD said, "I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters. I know their sufferings, (8) and I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. (9) And now, behold, the cry of the people of Israel has come to me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. (10) Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt." (11) But Moses said to God, "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?" (12) He said, "But I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain." (13) Then Moses said to God, "If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' what shall I say to them?" (14) God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And he said, "Say this to the people of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'" (15) God also said to Moses, "Say this to the people of Israel, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.' This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.

FYI. "citing" not "siting" English is kinda difficult that way, too many words that sound the same but are spelled differently and mean different things.

Who? Names are just labels. It depends if the name you say conveys the meaning of the person or not

Nope, just like it's not important to know Santa's name.
