Do you have to major in graphic design to be a graphic designer?

Im looking at the design and technology program at SFAI and the classes sound similar to ones in a graphic design courses. Do I have to major in graphic design to be a graphic designer?

    You don't have to but you will learn allot about Typography and a good understanding of design. Graphic design isn't all about the applications, first you need to learn the basics. But, I know when I interview designers first I look at their portfolio then I look at the resume. Im not to concerned about what school you went to but rather how good of a portfolio and experience you have,

    Yep, most graphic design jobs will require a degree in Graphic Design or the equivalent.
