the drum on my 15 year old Heavy duty Amana dryer is turning slower than it should.?
We are guessing that it has a wore out or a stretched belt. It seems to be running o.k. No screeching so we don't think it's a bearing. Have you ever changed a belt in a dryer? Is it difficult? It's too old to have a professional fix it. Advice?
It is a model #LE1100W
We got the top off and checked the belt; it doesn't look bad or feel bad. Now what??

Older appliances are worth repairing. That is why it made it to it's 15th year. give me a model and I will give you help.

Sounds like it to me also, not familiar with the Amana brand but they are all basically the same, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a video on YouTube on how to do it. Before you start consider how old it is, the drum seals are probably leaking air, if you live in a cool climate it's not an efficient way of heating a house but it does. If you live in an air conditioned area you are paying to coll the escaping air.
Check into replacing the seal while you have the back off and probably the top off.

Yes it very well could be the belt & it's an ez & cheap fix, worth a general repairman to replace it unless you just really want to buy a new dryer. Husband did mine in 15 minutes.
