How can I do a criminal check on someone in Canada?

The person involved admits to the record. I just would like to check the truthfulness and have more detail. All of the sites I go to say they have the info, but then want money. Even when they say Canada, when I pay, they only check the U.S. I thought this is public record, but everyone wants money, and then won't give me any Canadian information.

Thanks for your help.

You can't. Criminal records aren't made available to the general public.

Funny you seem to have the same results up in Canada as the US of A as they do say free criminal checks and it's relentless, always ending on that page where if you pay a few bucks you get a little more info. this is what you could do, if you want my advise, seems as tho you know the person in question as you said they admitted to the record, so have a little sit down,if you ever saw the movie, Meet the parents, be like the dad( Robert DeNiro) in that movie, start asking... :) Or you have relatives, friends maybe, that live in the USofA and see if they could look up the information for you, maybe it's not as difficult as they want us to believe, before we give up our well earned cash... Well, I wish you the best of luck on your criminal info. Have a wonderful day Ayet ;)

There are no Canadian public databases, yet. You'd have to contact the local government where the crime was committed.
