How do I get a 4 wk old kitten to eat?
We just got her as an orphan a few days ago and she was fine in the beginning with drinking formula from the bottle and even starting to lap the milk from a dish. Then we noticed all of a sudden, she didn't act the same and was very lethargic. We took her to the vet and he gave her a fever med shot and two fluid shots in her back in case she was dehydrated. She is still acting lethargic and fights me with the bottle. I've even tried to rub wet food mixed with formula on her nose but she makes no effort to lick it off. I have to use a syringe and try to force feed her since I'm so scared she's going to starve. Please, any suggestions as to how I can encourage her to drink/eat??

I think you should take her back to the vet, so the vet can give her IV liquids. She seems to be dehydrated, and this is a very dangerous condition. She can die quickly from dehydration. Your kitten needs to be seen ASAP, and kept at the vet's office until she is out of danger.

First of all, kittens can stop nursing as young as 4 weeks! You can now give her canned food! Just as long as it's not flaked so she won't choke. NEVER give a cat milk not from her mom. It will upset their stomach immensely! Have a bowl of crunchy handy at ALL times, so she can eat whenever. Have water handy at ALL times, we get thirsty, so do they. Fresh water is the best! Would we want icky old water? NO! Hope I helped and good luck!!!
