I live in New Zealand until I was in my warily twenties. I was always in the woods somewhere going hiking. I can say I'm an Atheist and I was close to nature. The reason I don't believe in a higher power is because that wasn't in my house hold. As well as the fact that religions always ask their followers to pray an bow down to them. I can't do that. I don't bow down to anyone who doesn't deserve it. No God, in my eyes, can be greater than the people living in earth.

I was living on a farm when I embraced Atheism. I later became Pagan & still don't believe in a "Creator" All these changes occurred because I was able to think clearly not because I was thinking about how everything HAD to be created. I was able to more closely study the circle of life which in turn made Paganism make more sense
thanks for trying to generalize tho

I lived in a small town before I went off to college. That seems to be an ongoing theme though, the smart people leave their rural settings, go off to college, and move to a big city where there is more money. People who are more close to "nature" tend to stay behind.

Not even a little bit.

I'm Atheist and my home town has a population of around 3000 residents. My high school graduating class had less then 100 students, and only 2 out of the entire class didn't graduate. I look out side and guess what I see in every direction. The answer is cows and corn fields.
Explain me.

Not really New Orleans is vastly majority Christians and they're in a city. Most People first world countries live in cities , religious or not.

Wrong.
First- provide evidence to support your claim.
Second- most PEOPLE live in cities. Most Christians live in cities, too. Most Muslims live in cities, most Buddhists live in cities. This is like claiming that most atheists are over five feet tall, therefore they aren't in touch with the ground. Most EVERYONE is over five feet tall.
So- no evidence, false premise, statistic applicable to all groups. Do you have any other gems for us?

Oh...living in a city doesn't mean you aren't close to nature. A lot of the guys I know hike regularly. I personally love camping.
But I think you would agree that biologists who study nature know more about it than anyone....and they are very non-religious.
So your point is???????

Not true at all. Cities are much more populated so it may be easy to assume that all groups have majorities in the cities, but its not true =P
Perhaps you should think about stuff like how and why God exists.
