What are all the supplies I need for a cat?

I may be getting an adorable cat soon, SO in love with him. I have a limited budget though, so I don't want to buy extras like cat trees and things like that.

So, what are the essential items?

Obviously the litter box.

Litter

Food

Food dish and water dish

a very small cat bed/condo/toy that will keep him occupied (if I'm not cuddling with him. Wow I'm turning into such a mush :/ )

a brush or comb

I have a pretty bad memory so if I'm missing something obvious please let me know, but otherwise, is this pretty much all the stuff that I need?

Update:

Oh right! Completely left out the other details. He is coming from a shelter so he is neutered and has all his vaccines. :)

Yup you got it all. Maybe a collar, in case it gets lost. And ofcourse most importantly her vacinations at a near by vet. You should also consider getting her spayed. I know male cats spray but im not too sure about the females. Do not declaw her.. Thats basically amputating her paws. You should try saving money and getting her a small cat tree. Cats LOVE it.

That seems like the main stuff, also I would suggest getting some anti flea stuff, to stop him getting fleas/get rid of any he might already have - I live in england and we have something called 'spot on' which is a liquid drop thing you just put on the back on thier neck, its quite easy, There is probably either the same thing or an equivalent where you are from.

Cats love to play with tin foil scrunched up in to little balls, mine go nuts about it, even better is the foil you get on the inside of cigarette packets (not that i suggest you smoke but just in case you already do) for some reason they love it, maybe its the sound it makes or the smell.

If you're going to let him go outdoors you might want to get him a collar, you can get little name tags done at some shops with a phone number on the back in case he runs off.

All the best for you and your new little friend!

It sounds like you have the essentials, cats don't require a lot.

You can get cat nip to put on his bed and toys if he doesn't seem interested in them.

Don't spend a ton of money on toys yet, wait until you know what kinds of things he likes to play with. I have a basket of un-played with toys and cats that love empty boxes.

    Treats

They're like $2 extra so it's inexpensive but I know my cats love having a midnight snack and such. Really, cats aren't too needy so as long as you clean their boxes and give them food, they'll be happy.
