Why don't people want to donate blood or their organs?

I don't understand why people are so reluctant to donate blood or organs, how would you feel if someone in your family desperately needed a blood transfusion or they would die but no-one donated blood. 1 in 3 people will need some blood in their lifetime but only 1 in 30 people give blood. Just think how many people are dying because not many people are giving this liquid gold.

I would absolutely love to donate but unable to and that frustrates me to no end. I wish I could give people a chance to live, why don't others feel the same.

I am very fortunate that some people are kind enough to donate otherwise I wouldn't be here today and actually neither would my husband. It is such a precious gift.

People don't hAve the time to go. It take 30 mins to give blood and at least 3 hours to give plasma. Maybe if they paid to donate blood and give more for plasma then people would find time. I bet people that receive te blood ha to pay for it. So they are making money off the blood. Another thing is some people can't give blood such as yours self bc of health reasons. And lastly is because people are scared to give blood ie passing out or needles of the fear that something could go wrong. I donated blood all during high school because they came to the school and we got rewards such as free dress down day and we for the shirt and snack. Most people that give blood get them from school. They come to them and we don't have to come to them. To be honest I have not given blood since I got out of high school bc I don't want to drive 20 mins to go give blood and red cross. So I guess that plays a big factor.

I don't know why more people don't donate blood. It might just sound yukky to them. As for organ donation, nurses blab that the organs are taken while you are still alive, so they are fresher. You are kept alive by artificial means till its done. And they say there is no anaesthetic used and IT HURTS TO HAVE A KIDNEY OR LUNG OR LIVER YANKED OUT OF YOU. They also infer that you could have been saved, but you were let die so your bodypart could be used. I believe some nurses wrote a book about this and they could all be saying this to promote their book and make money, or else all or some of it is true.
