What will make the political parties work together again?

Question

Conservatives won't listen to a thing the liberals say, and liberals won't listen to a thing the conservatives say.  I see it everywhere, including right here on Y!A.  Even the ridiculous stuff that is obviously not true, like "Obama is a MUSLIM TERRORIST" or "BUSH WAS A NAZI".  It's the whole reason our entire country is going into the crapper.

So, I think I know what the answer is - if you want a conservative to hear something, make sure a conservative says it and if you want a liberal to hear something make sure a liberal says it.  But that's not going to work.  So are you all going to continue to just destroy our country by regurgitating the same lies and made-up talking points or can you actually educate yourself a little so that your kids might not live in the crumbling ruins of our fallen empire?

It's difficult to work together when your ideas are polar opposites.

Liberals want to raise taxes Conservatives to lower them. 
Liberals want to increase regulation, Conservatives was to reduce legislation.
Liberals want to increase Social Security and Medicare spending Conservatives want to lower it.

There is no in between on these topics.

When JFK Democrats take over the Democratic Party again.

Right now, Small "c" Communists have taken over the party, ad want to FUNDAMENTALLY change the country. By definition that is anti-American.
So until the America-loving Liberals take over the DNC, you'll see more division in the country.

the plutocrats that run this country manufacture this fake left v. right perpetual fight..in order to keep the masses divided and distracted...notice how the tea party grew out of anger over the bailouts...and the plutocrats quickly switched their agenda to Czars, and birth certificates

They do work together however it happens to be against most of us.  People think there is this huge difference between the two parties...  that is simply untrue.  They may have slight differences but the outcome is the same for mainstreet America.

The political system is supposed to be adversarial...two sides fighting it out to come up with the best answer. 

A common enemy is the quickest way to get cooperation.... at least for a while.

It's not destroying the country. There needs to be two opposite ends of the spectrum. The solution is compromise.
