What should I do about this incident.?
Hello. Yesterday I was from behind on the freeway. I was completely stopped (as in not moving) for two seconds when someone hit me from behind. It messed up my bumper and we exchanged information. Today, I call his insurance and file a claim. They inform me that an Adjuster would contact me later after the agent and I talked about 20 minutes, (she asked a lot of questions regarding the incident). Then, I just received a call from the adjuster about 20 minutes ago saying this guy does not have insurance as of june because he did not pay them, and therefore they will not cover me. I have a copy of his drivers license, but I did forget to get his phone number. My question is, what should I do? In case you are wondering I live in the State of California and according to Google maps, the guy who hit me is two hours away from the address listed on his license.
Thank you.
Excuse me, I was hit from behind. Sorry about that.

this is likely his parents address if he was young, and probably not where he is, if your car is drivable you are lucky. In terms of what you can do at this point since his insurance is not valid, you need to tell the state of california he rear ended you and had no insurance this will get his license suspended. what you also need to do is provide CA with the damages because he will have to pay them to get his license back, so thats one thing you can start. Go get an estimate to fix your car and send the forms to CA DMV and be sure to mention his expired insurance and unpaid damages. If you have his license number and full coverage on your insurance they will likely fix your damages and go after him. deductible may apply. If you have liability only your insurance will not help, you either find a local address (you needed his phone number) losing track of that made it that much harder, in the future, put it on your cell phone and call him right away or something. If you can find him, drag him through small claims court, if you cannot find him about the only thing you can do is wait while ca goes and suspends his license, but that may take a while, as dmv is slow.

Contact your insurance company. If you have uninsured motorist coverage they will fix your car and go after the other guy for you. If you're not insured, all you can do is file a hit and run report with the local police.

Contact the police and let them know the situation. They should be able to be of assistance.
