Is it normal for cats to pee outside of their litter box.?
I have had my two cats for seven years and they are indoor kitties. In my past I have always had outdoor cats, so litter boxes and accidents were never an issue. My two girls pee on my carpets anywhere from 5 to 10 times per year. It is so frustrating getting the smell out! So I was just curious if this is normal that a cat owner has to go through this. Just to let you know my cats are very healthy and get regular check ups so there is no health issue. This is 100% behavior, maybe I looked at them the wrong way, or didn't feed them exactly when they wanted or if I go away. You know how cats can be:)

Your problems lies in the litter box. Cats are very clean animals and if their litter box is not clean, they will find another clean place to do it. Please clean your cats litter once a day and add fresh litter.

My one cat does this but only when we are gone for the day, we come home and can smell it. Our cats are both healthy as well, and we don't actually know which one is doing it because it is always when we go out. Our cat usually does it on the couch though so we have begun putting the cushions up when we leave and that has stopped her for the most part. Also Get serious cat extractor can get the smell out no problem and it doesn't return. It will also work on a spot that has been there for a long time and it very easy to use. As for getting the cats to stop you can try the water bottle trick if you ever catch them but im led to believe that like my cats they rather do it when your not watching.

I have a cat of my own she is still young but i haven't had this problem once she was litter trained. However, she has pooped once outside of the litterbox not sure why. I have heard of cats doing this though. So I wouldn't say it's abnormal just some propper dicepline is needed try a squirt bottle and give them treats when they use the litterbox.

Peeing outside of the litter box is like a territorial thing. They "mark" where their territory is to warn other cats to stay out. This can be trained out of them, but you must be persistent when training them out of it or else the cats will not understand what you are trying to do and they will just keep marking away.

attempt getting a thoroughly distinctive litterbox, distinctive type, shape and so on and fill it with a distinctive style of muddle. positioned it in a distinctive place than the old litterbox if a possibility. Confine your kitty to a single room for a week along with his new litterbox, ideally the room you intend to maintain the litterbox in so which you do not might desire to circulate it later. additionally, you will possibly desire to freshen up each hint of cat urine everywhere he went. Use a black mild to discover it in case you will possibly desire to and sparkling till not greater exhibits up. Any final lines ought to reason him to urinate contained in a similar spots back. it is all assuming you're valuable the an infection is long gone.
