Why wasn't the bible summarized? Too much of the information is redundant?

    O.T.

God; "Do as I say and you are rewarded forever, cross me and you are punished forever"

    N.T.

Jesus; "God has changed, he will forgive you if you don't do as he says"

The Bible was summarised somewhat, by those who decided to leave the Apocrypha out.

Everything in the Bible is the truth. We should be trying to learn as much as possible from God's word. There are hundreds of prophesies in the old testament. Most of them have been fulfilled, many are still going to be fulfilled, and a lot of them are about Jesus. Many of the prophesies in the old testament have been fulfilled in the New Testament. The Bible also explains itself. If you don't know what the Bible means by a certain word or expression, just go back and try to find other places In the Bible where that same expression or word is used and you'll understand what is meant by it. The Bible also has a chiastic structure. The things mentioned in the first book of the Bible are concluded in the last book, and the things mentioned in the second book are sort of concluded in the second last book and so on. The book of Revelations has its own chiasm.

If the Bible was summarized, it would be extremely difficult to understand, the prophesies would be meaningless, and the chiasm would be destroyed. We would also not be able to understand the prophesies, especially the ones in Revelations and about the antichrist. For example: When the Bible talks about a "beast", it is talking about a government/kingdom. Horns represent kings/rulers/leaders. Wings represent movement/activity. Waters/the sea represents nations and peoples. The dragon/serpent represents Satan. The "right hand" represents your actions and the "forehead" represents your mind/thinking. The color blue represents obedience, red represents sacrificing the lusts of the flesh, and purple represents royalty.

You are actually making a good point. Much of the information was mistakenly put into the Bible long ago. They couldn't have known any better. Obviously God knew this would be the case considering in that very book it is said that most people and all churches would fall away from God. Yet the world would continue to worship a false God unknowingly.

You should spend most of your time reading the stories surrounding Jesus. He pretty much reiterated words from the Old Testament. He made it clear how we are to live our lives and how we must not live. It doesn't matter how much the world has changed since then. The words of God have not changed. Society has become so far away from God's way, that the only way to him is to turn away from society.

Most of the other info in there does nothing more than cause conflict between people. It has no place in there since God's way of life is more about peace. If there is anything in there that creates conflict or confusion, it is either a complete fabrication or a misinterpretation.

It seems to be redundant, but you are looking at many people who are giving different perspectives on the same subject. Have you ever heard of a group of spectators who saw an accident or other event who told the exact same story? Unless they decide ahead of time what to say, no two stories will be alike and there is where you THINK you are seeing a redundancy.
