Creationism increasing among scientists?

Another member asked for verification as to whether scientists were abandoning the theory of evolution. Nearly all respondents say no. BUT...if you compare TalkOrigins.com stats:

http://www.talkorigins.org/indexcc/CA/CA%E2%80%A6

in 1999-2003 to what NewScientist.com cited in 2008:

http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn13%E2%80%A6

...the number of scientists embracing some form of creationism has grown from less than 1% in 2003, to 16% in 2008.

Update:

@lighting the way-

I do see your point and that was an oversight on my part. The problem I have with the statistics regarding percentages of scientists that believe in any manner of creationism, is that if they are not holding either advanced degrees, or degrees in the fields biology or evolutionary biology, they are disqualified. While only 700 of these scientists among 480,000 (roughly .5%) are out of the closet in regards to belief in creationism, how many thousands keep their creationist convictions to themselves for fear of hampering their professional careers? What measure of success could an openly creationist scientist in the fields of biology or evolutionary biology enjoy if he or she doesn't fit the profile?

Actually, I'm not a deceitful creationist. I just don't accept what qualifies a person as a "scientist" in this debate. Atheists already admit on these boards that they feign spirituality to maintain a peaceful co-existence with their societal religious counterparts. Why

Update 2:

@lighting the way...you have the best answer, but the lame Y!A isn't letting me vote for it. Every time I hit submit, it erases my rating for your answer, then it tells me I have to rate your answer. Sheeeez! I just wanted to say that if atheists lie about believing in God to fit in with a society that believes, a scientist can lie about their creationist convictions to fit into their society.

You don't even know who qualifies as a scientist. Or are you simply another creationist resorting to deceit?

"in 1999-2003 to what NewScientist.com cited in 2008:"

But if you click on the link, see what comes up.

"16% of US science teachers are creationists"

SCIENCE TEACHERS ARE NOT SCIENTISTS. MOST SCIENCE TEACHERS DO NOT HAVE AN ADVANCED DEGREE IN SCIENCE EVEN IF THEY HAVE A DEGREE IN SCIENCE.

In fact, most science teachers do NOT even have a degree in science. They just have a degree in teaching and follow a lesson plan if they are teaching science.

So are you just ignorant about who qualifies as a scientist, or are you just another deceitful creationist?

And that is why I have contempt for creationists. Depending on their level, they are either just plain ignorant, or they are deceitful, or they are bald-faced liars.

Any scientist who could convincingly refute evolution or evolutionary theory would become world famous and win a Nobel prize. Any scientist who does not accept evolution does so either because he places his religious beliefs above his scientific outlook or because he is not in a relevant field and knows no more about evolution or the evidence for it than does the average person.

As for closet scientists, if they are not in relevant scientific fields, their disbelief in evolution would be irrelevant. If they are in relevant fields, they certainly would be hampered. Exxon, for example, hires geologists who are fully acquainted with the geologic strata according to evolutionary knowledge. They do not hire creationist geologists who believe in the biblical flood model.

There is a reason for that!

Only the "scientists" payed by Fox News believe in Creationism. Those are also the same "scientists" that think that Global warming isn't happening.
