I like the Gene Pitney. Plangent lyrics, bittersweet chord changes, pulsing rhythm, overblown arrangement, and melodramatic voice. Everything a teen love-song should be.

While this isn't really a question for this Department, some of those singers were our fav's when we were a lot younger, so you are forgiven.

Running an eye over all the answers, clearly it's a matter of opinion. How can I possibly argue with someone who likes someone else while I think Roy Orbison was King of EVERYTHING..!

I remember a later-day interview with Paul McCartney on the BBC, where He was explaining that all the direction, all the really big stuff, which later evolved into what became 'Rock and Roll' was down to Roy. He was THE inspiration, He was the door everybody went knocking on, He had all the music and all the answers. McCartney clearly revered him, as did many at that time.

I simply like him because I long thought he was 'The Best.'

You, of course, will have to make up your mind, asking yourself, which one 'speaks to my inner voice.." Easy enough, play them through once and ask yourself, 'O.K. I've just heard 'em all. Now, which one do I want to play again, NOW..!' That's the one, baby..!

Cara Mia was not Jay and the Americans best hit song.

I dont know who the Brooklyn Bridge was.

Dion and the Belmonts, Runaround Sue, would be my pick from all of those. I have that record.

I dont like country singing so Roy Orbison is out.

I also have the record by Gene Pitney. Town Without Pity was from a movie about a rape.

When the great Roy Orbison sang Crying, there was never a dry eye in the house. That powerful voice and that beautiful music was heaven.

Just don't get him confused with Elvis Presley, as another poster did here a week or so back. She got her ears pinned back but good. LOL!

You are in school and you post songs from the 60s? What's wrong with this picture?
