Should 9/11 become a national holiday?

Update:

I only meant that it should be a national holiday because it's a national tragedy. So many lives were lost that day, and I feel like by making it a national holiday, we can show our respect to the families and friends of the victims of that day.

In Canada, our Prime Minister has announced that 9/11 will become a "National Day of Service". Every September 11th, Canadians are encouraged now to offer support and assistance to anyone who needs help in honour of the victims of 9/11.

Perhaps the US should do something similar????

If we were to make it a Holiday it would be like memorial day, which we already have. We can't celebrate the loss of the people and we most certainly wouldn't celebrate a terror attack. I think us Americans have the responsibility to share this day with generations to come. No need for a holiday.

a holiday is something you enjoy. nothing is funny about 9/11 and the 9/11 victims families should remember them in peace, not an all out party from bloomberg

Holidays are celebrations and there is nothing to celebrate about 9/11.

No. That would be like having a holiday for the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7 1941.

These are dates that should be remembered, but not as holidays. I would not think that there should be a holiday for a day that our country was attacked.

To me, no. It's not something to be celebrated, but more remembered.
