Isn't the Palestinian bid for UN membership the best thing for Israel?

Since 1967, the UN has, though failed to enforce thanks to US vetoes, the partitioning of the land as stated in the 1947 partitions. Yes, from 47 to 67 the Arabs did not agree to the partition either, but why don't the Israelis realize that if this bid does not get approved they are going to end up being permanentely in charge of all the Arabs in the West Bank sooner rather than later.

If the UN accepts them in, suddenly Israel will finally have the legal cover to actually strike back against another state for cross border attacks because as of right now..everything...EVERYTHING they are doing in lands they unanimously annexed in 67 has no legit international credibility as it is occupied land.

Nothing good can come out of this for Israel, let alone America, by not allowing them in. Isnt this a miscalculation on their part?

Israel has legally been attacking Gazans and Pals in the West Bank for years, not to mention Hezbollah in Lebanon and bombing a Syrian facility. The U.N. has accused Israel of violating international law many times but the U.S. protects them.

Palestine might be granted statehood without UN membership or vice versa. I dont know what will happen. I heard that Palestine wants to take Israel through the ICC for its crimes.

the Jewish state will never permit Palestinians to become a nato or U N permanent member if they do, the will have to answer to the member and they will not be able to do anything at all or Evin defend thee sells, second America will not let this happen .the only way to remove the jews from the arabs land is to Attack in the sneaky way. all arab country's together can and will destroyed them. and theed Iran developing the bomb and with the long rang missiles can bring the Jewish Nation to negotiate for the land and send the back to the original territory in Other way my productions are,the Jewish Nation will be totally vanish 100% and all the good brains of the Israelis will be lost , very shameful think if this happened and the only survivors will be thous live in different country's round the world ,

If they get in (unlikely) not a thing will change. Israelis will still steal land, murder civilians and totally disregard any UN mandate. This will piss off an already pissed off world. You are right, it could not be a good thing for Israel. Fortunately, they have a vote in the security council and will veto. If Palestine gets her way in the general assembly the same thing will happen -- nothing will change. The majority of the world supports Palestinian statehood, Israeli veto in security council (proxy vote via USA) keeps this from happening.

well sorry for being pedantic, but the strikes are coming from hamas led gaza, not fatah run west bank. If palestine gets statehood then israel's building of settlements in the west bank wil very definitely be violating international law in invading another sovereign country.

that said, statehood would not be of any real benefit to palestine. it wouldnt change the fact on the ground (refugees, settlements...) and would actually be a disaster for most palestinian refugees living outside of the palestinian territories who would lose their representation through the PLO, it would also lead to to the disenfranchisement of israeli arabs, who could now be called "palestinian" rather than israeli, regardless of whether they felt palestinian or not.

on top of this, it would antagonise the israelis no end and probably set back peace negotiations as well as making palestine, with two contesting governments, a technically failing state.

definite - and it does. Israel invented modern terrorism in 1946 while the Zionist employer Irgun bombed the King David inn in an attack against the British authority governing Palestine. u.s. and Britain created Israel and it immediately grew to grow to be a spoiled rich brat. Gods do no longer create countries; human beings do - and human beings can take them away.

To put it mildly, no. They will keep fighting each other because each believes they have rights to the Holy Land, they can't share it, that would be too simple.
