When are carrots no good? I've had these for over 5 months and they're not moldy or slimy; are they any good?

They are root vegetable, they grow in the ground!@ a good tip, when you buy them, do they come from the shelf or the refrigerator?

they will dry out and shrivel, then start to sprout again if anything.

Carrots are a root vegetable, the root stores moisture and nutrition, the carrot top will grow and seed and then die out, the root will get large and woody and be inedible.

We have manufactured carrots to be harvested early, before this happens, but they stioll have an indefineable shelf life. They won't poison you, they'll grow mouldy if anything!

There is no way carrots would last that long, unless they were frozen. Fresh ones are good for up to 3-4 weeks in the fridge, frozen ones for about 12 months.

Not moldy or slimy generally means good with vegetables. Though I would think by now they'd be pretty rubbery, and therefore not particularly tasty.

It's a root veggie, so they last longer than most veggies. Try a little, and see how it is. If it's disgusting to eat, then spit it out. If it's OK, then you can probably make a soup with it.
